Re: [SlimDevices: Audiophiles] Hifiberry Digi+Pro + RPi3?

2017-05-26 Thread celo

Sorry for missing out on the details.

Yes, I am using an older DAC with no USB and only up to 44.1 support.
Don't want to change my DAC. Just purchased and love it.

I thought that RPi3 with Digi+Pro would eliminate the connection of the
SBT to the server (RPi3) over the network. Thus, giving me better sound?

Re: [SlimDevices: Audiophiles] Hifiberry Digi+Pro + RPi3?

2017-05-25 Thread celo

Thanks for the reply.

Should have mentioned. It is Tidal HIFI.

I thought keeping two units together all-in-one ( Digi Pro and
Raspberry) would be better than SBT connecting to Rpi3 via local
network.

Thanks.

[SlimDevices: Audiophiles] Hifiberry Digi+Pro + RPi3?

2017-05-24 Thread celo

I want to try this but how do I stream Tidal? Can the BubbleUPNP server
let me stream Tidal? Or other server?

I don't listen to any local files. Just streaming.

I have SBT as my streamer and I have no reason to replace it other than
to try something new.

I currently run the LMS via MaxPlay2 and RPi3. I am thinking if I can
make this all in one unit instead two. It may improve the sound?

[SlimDevices: Audiophiles] How to connect Touch?

2016-05-16 Thread celo

The more I want to make things better, the more I get confused. I have
read a lot of threads but it actually made me more confused. So, here
are some questions.

1-Should I use active or passive preamp between the Touch and my TPA3116
board amp (it has no volume)?

2-Should I add volume pot to my board (or use fully finished/assembled
TPA3116 with volume) and directly connect my Touch to my amp via
analog?

3-I used to have Schitt Bifrost DAC going between my Touch and amp and I
liked it but do not know if it was THAT better than Touch's analog.
Should I add a DAC again?

4- If I add a DAC and/or directly connecting the Touch to the preamp or
amp, should I set the Touch's volume to 100% fixed and use preamp/amp's
volume pot?

5-Should I buy a DAC with digital volume to connect it to the Touch? Is
using volume via Touch/Software better/worse than using DAC's digital
volume?

I kindly ask to reply with simple language as I am not too technical :)
