[SlimDevices: Audiophiles] subwoofer reponse
I'm looking at achieving the most/best subwoofer response from an older Difinitive 1500 subwoofer through an older Adcom GTP600 tuner/preamplifier. My SB is attached to the Adcom of course... I have a large hard wood spacious room and I can't get the response from the sub that I could in my downstairs room that was carpeted and hooked through a low end Denon A/V receiver. The subwoofer should be putting out more than enough bass for any application. I have the SB going into an Adcom gtp600 preamp tied to a 6 zone amplifier that I am able to get all the volume I desire with, but my problem lies in that I took an RCA interconnect to my downstairs Denon A/V receiver to play SB in basement and at full volume I can't get the loudness I am seeking. I split the SB signal after my Adcom GTP 600 and before it goes into my 6 zone amplifier which powers all of my upstairs zones. My name is Matthew. I so love music becuse it evokes the Spirit in us if you know what I mean. zthat's why I'm a praise and worship music fanatic. Only trouble is not mucch out there that doesn't all sound the same, need more synth stuff the christian alternative genre's got some good stuff and yea I do like hymns too. the home i moved into just a time ago has the in wall and in ceiling speakers...i believe them to be from Elan. they sound pretty good and handle some pretty good pushing since I use a sub. I currently have an old Adcom gtp 600 pre amp with a 6 zone HTD 50 W/channel amp. Sounds decent enough to me. zthe only thing I'd like to change is I'm using a pair of Definitive BP-2's for front music on a shelf. I'd like to be able to get ahold of some large floorstanding speakers instead. I'm running my SB3 into an Adcom GTP600 preamp with a 6 zone amplifier and I enjoy perfectly clear, hum free music. I attempted a split of the RCA jacks onthe SB to send a signal downstairs to my basement and immediately upon plugging in the y RCA spiltter humming exists. Has anyone out there spit the RCA jacks without getting hum? Jeffluckett, What did you split the rca outputs with? Has anybody used a standard splitter for the rca out cables/jacks without loss of sound quality? Should I run SB directly into my HTD 1235 6 zone amp unhooking my currently used Adcom tuner/preamp GTP 600? Each of my zones have their own seperate volume controls.
