Re: [SlimDevices: Audiophiles] Here is why no FF/RW
OK, I dont mind how the current fast fwd is implemented, confused me at first but once I figured it out, no probs. But when players are synced, fast fwd doesnt seem to work at all. And when switching on another player, the currently playing track restarts from the beginning. This combined with the lack of fast forward means that when playing a long 1 hour+ track, if you switch on another synced player there is no way to go back to where you were in the track. I have quite a lot of cds which are continuous 1 hour+ tracks. I'm sure I'm not the only one. Re: [SlimDevices: Audiophiles] Active speakers with auto power on/off
As no-one has given any advice, I thought I'd share what I've discovered so far. It is quite hard to find decent small active speakers with automatic power on/off The ones I found so far are Canton Plus Media 3 £190 for a pair http://www.canton.de/de-produktdetail-plus-plusmedia3.htm KRK V4 series 2 £332 for a pair http://www.krksys.com/index2.php?cat=productspage=v4_series2 Slightly bigger are the Tannoy Reveal 5A £198 As I can only find the Cantons on the web in one place in the UK, so no place to try them out, so far it's down to the KRKs unless I settle for the slightly bigger Tannoys. I'll have to find some time to go and test drive them somewhere. It would be nice to have a cheaper option for elsewhere such as the kitchen, but I haven't managed to find any with auto power on/off, so may have to forgo that requirement. In case anyone else is interested in larger active speakers with auto on/off, the following I found also have that feature: BEHRINGER B2031A SAMSON RESOLV 80A AudioEnergy more expensive options: KRK V6/V8 Mackie HR624/824 Cheers, Menno -- menno menno's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=11751 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=35932 ___ audiophiles mailing list audiophiles@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
Re: [SlimDevices: Audiophiles] Headless music server
Try and work out where the pitch whine is coming from. It tends to be one of the fans in your PC, which can be easily replaced with quieter versions at little cost. In my experience the small fans on graphics card and motherboards often are the noisiest. Depending on the budget level there are various solutions to quieting PCs. See www.quietpc.com for some product ideas. If it is the graphics card one option is just to disable the fan see how hot it gets. I did it on one of mine (which I didnt mind loosing if the experiment didnt work) and it has run fine without the fan for years. My PCs are totally fanless, and so quiet the gf sometimes switches them off when she means to switch them on! [SlimDevices: Audiophiles] Active speakers with auto power on/off
Can anyone recommend me some active speakers that have an auto power on/off feature? I am specifically looking for some to go in the bedroom with an SB3. I have some active HHB Circle 5's for other use, which are great monitors, but am looking for something smaller for the bedroom and want the auto power on/off feature for the alarm clock function. Also someone reported that the auto power on/off didnt work for some speakers. Is that issue resolved already?
