Just to put some more details onto this - Does it happen in the shift of two tracks or while the music plays? - If in a track can you rewind and hear it again? Typically when one experience pif/crackle/puf is in the space between two tracks. Especially when the tracks are of different resolution. Hmm must admit that the only thing I know about the cables in my wall is that they are green... time to check on the loft. Anyway my 655 router can pull about 300 mbit/s through them; that is a limitation on the router.
