Reading about this, it seems optimal attenuation values are wholly

Also, from what I can gather, attenuation was helpful for the M2Tech
Hiface as its default SPDIF output was overspec from 0.5v at 2v,
begging the question of how beneficial this would be for the Touch (if
 its output is lower).

Hi,

that is why 10db is the max that can be used with the touch before the
dac loses the ability to read the spdif signal. I still notice a
beneficial effect with 10db, I wouldn't have posted it otherwise. It's
a simple circuit so could be designed/built for a particular dac/cable
combination if your into diy.

[SlimDevices: Audiophiles] Coaxial fixed attenuator

2012-03-12 Thread SBGK

came across this on J Keny's site

http://sites.google.com/site/hifacemods/home/rf-attenuators

cost me about £17 with postage from minicircuits

read that someone had found 10db works with the Touch, so thought why
not try it.

quite a nice effect if you use bnc coax for spdif to your dac, takes
some of the digital hash away, an audiophile bargain.
