Re: [SlimDevices: Audiophiles] Deutsche Grammophon
Outrageous is more the term I would use for those prices for MP3. Good grief even iTunes isn't that expensive for whole albums. They just don't get it do they. Unfortunately shortsightedness by companies like this damages the download business model by overcharging for inferior product (i.e. MP3, not the DG catalogue itself). Whilst people might not realise the cost of hosting such a site, they certainly are aware that it costs much less than manufacturing a CD with booklet and jewel case. But then again, if people are prepared to pay -- bigfool1956 David Ayers Music is what counts, hifi just helps us enjoy it more bigfool1956's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13782 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=42883 ___ audiophiles mailing list audiophiles@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles

Must say, it's rather expensive complete albums! I think it may well me cheaper to buy the CD in many cases. -- lhmperth lhmperth's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=15131 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=42883 ___ audiophiles mailing list audiophiles@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
[SlimDevices: Audiophiles] Deutsche Grammophon
Some might already have noticed that Deutsche Grammophon (www.deutschegrammophon.com) opened its own online download shop and is now selling more than 2500 albums of which more than 600 are not even available on disc any longer. The music comes in DRM-free 320 kbps mp3 and includes the booklet as PDF. While this is probably the greatest download resource for classical music up to now, there seems to be one thing missing: FLAC. However Deutsche Grammophon seems to think about this option. If you would prefer to buy FLACs (if possible even in 88.2/96khz) you might want to send them an email showing your demand. Robin, Thanks! dg [at] freshdigital.co.uk is what I used (got a friendly reply there), but maybe I should sent it to the other one as well. Anyway, I wanted forum members to have a look at the site ;-) It's worth it.
