 Hi Hans,

I prefer being called Pete or Hans-Peter, if you don't mind.

 Hans-Peter Jansen:
before switching my users to openSUSE 10.2 diskless, I tackled the job
of backporting aufs to (at least) 2.6.11 for SuSE 9.3 (diff attached).

All kudos to you!

 Thank you very much.
I believe you have not only good skills but also frontier spirit.
I am very glad your success.
But I am afraid you will meet some problems in the future.

Could you briefly elaborate, which problems you have in mind (other than
catching up with your pace ;-), which is not planned ATM. That would
change, if you consider applying such a thing. Then I would try to tidy it
up to the level, you demand for sure.

I'm overwhelmed by this level of success. Thank you very much. If you
visit Germany one day, or I am Japan, I would be pleased to invite you
for a nice dinner at large - please let me know, seriously!

Haha, I decided now. Today I shall have a dinner with sausages, potatos,
sour cabbage, Butter AUFS Brot, beer, mit singing Ein Prosit. :-)

I thought about a _good_ restaurant, not a german kneipe, or even one of my
favorite dishes: sushi ;-) I'm living near Frankfurt/Main in a wine
oriented area, btw.. But surely, bavarian beer is here available, too.

If you want to do me a(nother) favour, please have a look on my changes
and give me a note if something stands out badly. I you consider
applying something like that, let me know, and I will try to clean it
  up.

 - The macros LOCK_INODE() and UNLOCK_INODE() are not bad, but where do
   you use them?

Hmm, lagacy unionfs cruft, unintensionally included. Will remove, just
ignore it for now.

 - I prefer defining ATTR_FILE as zero, instead of removing.

Oh yes, good idea. Will do..

 - it is recommended to define CONFIG_AUFS_DEBUG.

Okay, looks like I should immediately break with some old unionfs habits ;-)

Here's day one after move to aufs, and I haven't got a single complaint.
That's fantastic.

Have a nice weekend,
Pete

if you (Junjiro) stays some additional days in germany, I would like to invite
you too: that's for the nfs-export feature, for the SMP-support you are not
able to give but works fine (!), for aufs in general (!!) and (last but not
least) for the linux-vserver-support from your todo-list (and seemed already
be there)(!!!). Well, that's quality - and that's one difference to unionfs
(I don't want to start the discussion here again. But people are counting for
quality!).

 Have a nice weekend,

Ciao,
Wilhelm
