We could, but I think it is unlikely anyone will adopt them (rather a niche
application) and they will just end up being grossly outdated
and cluttering the AUR.
I'd rather delete them.
Thanks,

  Dear TU/AUR managers,

Can you please delete the following packages:

yorick
yorick-imutil
yorick-soy
yorick-yutils
yorick-spydr
yorick-yao

reason: they are superseeded by their -git versions.

and

yorick-all
reason: I've never been able to make this metapackage work properly.

Thanks in advance!

  What about just orphaning them?

Okay I removed them. Keep contributing!

[aur-general] VCS Packaging Guidelines

2011-07-02 Thread Mark Foxwell
Hi,

What is the _official_ opinion on when to bump pkgver on VCS packages?

I maintain offlineimap-git [1] (and a few other VCS packages) in AUR
and generally bump the pkgver on each commit and may add to the comments
about major changes. Other maintainers seem to take the approach to not
bump the pkgver unless any changes to the build process are needed.

I think that any _official_ view (even if it's 'either way is fine')
should be added to the VCS PKGBUILD Guidelines wiki page [2].

Many Thanks,

Mark
