[aur-general] Leaving ArchLinux
I'm sorry to say that I've just had to move away from Arch Linux on my main PC; I've had a great time and I'm going to miss most of it, but I just needed a debian environment sometimes, and I was spending more and more time in debian chroots. I have 25 `packages on AUR`_, none of which has many votes, but I don't want to leave them to rot, so this is my plan. .. _`packages on AUR`: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?K=valhalla&SeB=m First of all, if anybody is interested in one of my packages let me know and I'll orphan it so that they can take them over. For the rest, I am keeping the old Arch partition around and chrooting into it when they need mainteinance; after a few months if I find out that I'm not giving them as much love as they need I'll start orphaning them, but I'll keep subscribed to the comments and try to keep them up to date until they are adopted. I hope that this way I'll be able to move away without leaving stuff to bitrot in AUR. Thanks everybody, -- Elena ``of Valhalla'' signature.asc Description: Digital signature

[aur-general] Orphan php-sqlite3
Please orphan the php-sqlite3 package: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=6156 The maintainer doesn't seem to keep this package up-to-date (last activity was in 2007) and the package itself is broken too. The author seemed to host it on his own computer too.

Nevermind, i've now seen that the package in extra is actually sqlite3. Therefore this package should be deleted. But since we are here: My sed command executes an expression in an input text. The input text is from the file 'lmd'. I also added the flag '-i' so the output of this command will not go to stdout, but directly to the input file. So, it will not just read the file, but alter/write too. The expression structure is basically 'A#B#C#', where #s are delimiters; A is a specific line number that sed will look and replace; B is the regexp to look (and to be replaced) in that line in A; and C is the replacement regexp that I want to replace B. Please note that '\n' is a newline character and '\t' is a tab character. So, as I mentioned before, I replaced the string 'then' in line 325 with the new line/command you provided. 'sed' can do much more than that. Man page and google can help a lot. Cheers, Rafael Ferreira

However, I do not believe that treating standard X, that system Y is applicable to, as part of Y's documentation package is elegant; instead, Y's documentation should merely reference X (as hier(7) does in the "CONFORMING TO" section). The reasoning is that system Z might also be applicable to X (inelegant, since there would exist a redundant copy of X), and more importantly, X is self-contained. That would mean that X should exist separately as a package, instead of being a component of Y-docs and Z-docs. I do not believe that this packaging infrastructure (pacman, official and unofficial repos, AUR) is well suited for offline content not pertaining to specific software, since the functionality is specifically targetted towards software packages. If my reasoning is sound, then a FHS package is outside the scope of this infrastructure. -Ruslan -- Ruslan Nabioullin rnabioul...@gmail.com signature.asc Description: OpenPGP digital signature
