[aur-general] Can't receive an email after registered at AUR

2014-05-07 Thread Serhii Dovhan
Hello!
I registered at AUR a few month ago, but I didn't receive an email from
AUR. My email provider is gmail.com.

I was search the mail in my "spam" folder, etc. I was try to use the URL
for resetting password: https://aur.archlinux.org/passreset/. It doesn't
help.

I find the mail from user with same problem, this is last message in
conversation with him: https://mailman.archlinux.org/pipermail/aur

Thanks for your attention.

You mistyped your email address ("dvhan" instead of "dovhan"). I just
fixed that. Please try to use the password reset page again.

[aur-general] Notify by e-mail when PKGBUILD updated by maintainer?

2014-05-07 Thread Amish

Hello,

I went to through this AUR wiki page but did not get the answer.
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/AUR

Is there a way to get notified when "Maintainer" updates new PKGBUILD?

We already have way to notify for new comments on AUR package. So
possibly it would be easy to extend that without much coding and send
notification when new PKGBUILD is uploaded.

New Comment => send e-mail to those who subscribed for comments

New Update => send e-mail to those who voted AND subscribed for comments
(or we can have a link called "Notify of new update")

In my opinion getting notified for Update is more important than getting
notified for comments.

I see similar discussion on Google around 2012, but I really am
surprised that not many have asked for this feature which I thought
should be a basic need. :)

PS:
I am not looking for solution like pkgbuild-watch. I am looking for
option on AUR itself.

Thanks,

Amish.

Re: [aur-general] Merge request: zfs to zfs-git

2014-05-07 Thread Nowaker

Since these are not currently in AUR, I will upload them myself once I
get the PKGBUILDS working.

Thank you!

> Should we ask the maintainer of zfs-dkms-therp to disown his zfs
packages?

If it's a duplicate then not - AUR guys will just delete the package
once we ask them.

No, there is not currently a way. It has been requested:

I believe cryptocrack has said that the entire notification system needs
an overhaul, and things like this won't get implemented until that
happens.

Restraining myself from returning the flames, did you happen to read
this email thread before replying?

1) I am the submitter.
2) Ok, I'm two days short of two weeks from marking it out of date.
3) I was working WITH goll, but haven't been able to get him to update
the package with any further updates.

I figure either:
a) I can take it back and update it - and maintain it long term; or
b) people can flame me and I'll just build it locally for the future -
and ignore it on AUR.

I'd much rather do option A.

[aur-general] Orphan request: bacula

2014-05-07 Thread Steven Haigh
Hi guys,

I'm trying to take back the bacula AUR package to continue maintaining.
https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/bacula/

I am the submitter of the original AUR package:
Submitter: CRCinAU

I am listed as a maintainer in the PKGBUILD file:
https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/ba/bacula/PKGBUILD

# Maintainers: Steven Haigh
# goll

I have tried contacting goll to update the package, but have not heard a
response for some time (and a few revisions).

I hereby request that either the package be orphaned so I can pick it up
and update it in future, or the maintainer be changed by to myself (ie
the submitter).

Thanks.

Orphaned.

Is the temporary _instdir really necessary? It looks like an ugly hack at first
glance. Regardless, it definitely shouldn't be creating directories in $PWD.
Please change that to "$srcdir/build" or something similar.

The install commands in the package function should include explicit
permissions as well, e.g. "install -Dm644 ...". If you really can't use the
makefile install function then I would replace most of those commands with for
loops, e.g

for script in "$_instdir"/etc/bacula/scripts/*
do
  install -Dm644 "$script" "$pkgdir/etc/bacula/scripts/${script##*/}"
done

Also note the quoting of all path variables to prevent word expansion on paths
containing spaces.

Indeed: https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/31851

I added one line in package update Guidelines for Maintainer.

Here is the link:
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Arch_User_Repository#Maintaining_packages

Here is the line added:

"After submitting the update, leave a comment on AUR page of the package
so users following the package get notified."
