[aur-general] Delete requests for abandoned packages

2014-06-13 Thread Doug Newgard

Maintainer renamed package, but did not request removal:
https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/rename-git/

Maintainer said it needed removed and abandoned it instead of requesting
that it be deleted:

https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/raspyplayer-git/

Maintainer renamed package, but did not request removal:
https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/qhttpserver/

Upstream switched to git, maintainer just abandoned it instead of
requesting removal:

https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/rssproc-hg/

Thanks

Re: [aur-general] Delete requests for obsolete XWayland packages

2014-05-28 Thread Tim Jester-Pfadt
Hi,

I think there might be a confusion regarding package [6].

For our regular desktops we need the XOrg server which comes as a binary in
/usr/bin/Xorg provided by the xorg-server package in [extra]. You get this
by setting --enable-xorg at compile time. Now for XWayland we have our own
binary which is completely independet called /usr/bin/Xwayland. You get
this binary by setting --enable-xwayland. You can have this as a standalone
server by doing --disable-xorg --enable-xwayland, which then only builds
XWayland. This is what the xwayland-git package does and therefore doesn't
replace your X server and is a safe way to try out XWayland. You don't have
two X servers afterwards.

Package [6] does both it compiles the developer Xorg binary and the
development Xwayland binary, but if you want to try Xwayland you only need
the last one. If you want the latest Xorg (which actually gets used by KDE
et al.) you can use xorg-server-git, which only builds Xorg but not
Xwayland. So there is no real need for a package that builds both.

Regards,

Tim

I wanted to go through the xwayland packages eventually, but since you
listed them so nicely... Thank you for that.

I've removed [1], [2], [3], [5]

I think it makes sense to keep [6], until the xorg-server-git gets
xwayland support, because not everyone wants to have two x servers
installed.

[aur-general] Delete requests for obsolete XWayland packages

2014-05-28 Thread Tim Jester-Pfadt
Hello,

now that XWayland changed to being it's own server binary, rather than a
module for X11, there are several obsolete drivers on the AUR which only
create confusion.[1][2][3] The new XWayland doesn't need patched drivers
anymore.

"In the old model, things like modesetting were done in the video driver,
unfortunately. In the old model, we simply patched Xorg with a special
magical mode to tell video drivers not to do anything too tricky. For
instance, the xf86-video-intel driver had a special branch for Xwayland
support.
For generic hardware support, we wrote a generic, unaccelerated
driver
that
stubbed out most of the functions we needed. With the new approach, we
don’t need to patch anything at all." [4]

There is also an orphaned build of the development X server, which tries to
build the old deprecated XWayland approach. [5] You can see this, because
it has --enable-wayland instead of the new --enable-xwayland.
Another build is a duplicated of the defacto standard xwayland package
(xwayland-git) the difference is that it not only builds XWayland, but also
the whole X11 server from the development branch even though this is not
needed.[6] People could just use the xorg-server-dev and install
xwayland-git and get the same thing.

This program is dead upstream. I mirrored the source to be able to keep
the package alive, but now the webkit library it relies on has had a
major API break. It's beyond my ability/interest to fix right now, so it
just needs to be removed.

tiling2-git: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/tiling2-git/

This is a module for Enlightenment that I thought was going to live in
it's own repo for a while. Instead, it was merged into the main E tree,
making this package redundant. There's nothing worth merging.

2014-04-17 Thread Anton Larionov
Hi,

Please deleted following packages from AUR:

https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/opencaesar3-git/
Development was moved to CaesarIA project (caesaria-git package).

https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/caesaria-bin/
Upstream now provides only source code.

https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/mpd-cue/
Mpd now supports cue out-of-box.

https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/mpd-devel/
Doesn't need anymore because extra now contains latest version
and there is no difference between stable and devel.

https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/mpc-dev/
Same as previous item.

I agree. Python 2 and Python 3 packages should be separate, in my opinion.
One should not need to install Python 3 to get a Python 2 package, and vice
versa.

BTW, its maintainer contacted me. He explained that his package provided the
library for python2 and python3 at the same time. So it is not a library for
old version of python.
But anyway, the package had an incorrect name. And I think that packages into
AUR, such as this one, must not be split packages.

I mean, I know it's from lxsession-git, I just assumed it'd be in

[aur-general] Delete requests

2013-09-25 Thread Doug Newgard
terminology-guake-git pulls from a branch of terminology that hasn't been
updated since Oct of last year, when terminology was in it's infancy. I can't
get a response from the author, either. This package has just become useless
cruft, so I'm requesting it be removed:

https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/terminology-guake-git/

Long dead upstream and hasn't built for years:

https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/ei8k-module-svn/

Dead upstream and no development since the last release, making it a duplicate
of the release package already in the AUR. Nothing worth merging, so just needs
deleted:

https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/python2-ethumb-git/

Enlightenment used to have a DM called Entrance. It's long gone, but there was
another one written named Elsa. After the original Entrance died, Elsa was
renamed to Entrance. The entrance-themes package is for the old, non-existant
Entrance, so it needs to be deleted:

https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/entrance-themes/

A lot of work was done on ffmpeg-compat in [community] a while ago, so now
acestream can use that. The acestream-ffmpeg package is no longer needed:

https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/acestream-ffmpeg/

Thanks

The 'subliminal' package had a dependency on
python2-requests-0.14.
Can you revert ?

Julien

True, sorry. Clicking "Download MPICH" and "Download MPICH2" redirected me
to the same page and I jumped into a false assumption.

I do not think they are the same. Also mpich is needed by another AUR package.

Done, xautoclick has been adopted, and xautoclick-latest was already orphaned.

Not exactly the same. Both are maintained.

[aur-general] delete requests

2010-11-25 Thread Joao Cordeiro
gnome-mount-lite [1]
gnome-disk-utility replaces it

mpich [2] and mpich2 [3] are the same. First one is outdated but probably
has better naming. 1 should be deleted OR adopted by 2 maintainer (so that 2
can be removed)

xautoclick-latest [4]
should be removed because it is a dupe of xautoclick [5] (that was
orphaned). I asked its maintainer to adopt the original package and update
it. It was not updated yet.

bargraph [6]
I may be wrong but I believe this simply disappeared from the face of the
internet. It has no packages dependents on it and may as well be deleted
from aur too.

programmers-dvorak [7]
same as programmer-dvorak-console-map [8] but outdated and orphaned.

Thanks in advance

[aur-general] delete requests

2010-06-24 Thread Moritz Rudert
Hi,
can somebody delete

bin32-skype-pulse - http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=19132 cause
its not needed anymore (skype supports pulse natively:
http://www.pulseaudio.org/wiki/PerfectSetup#Skype)

wine-pulse_64 - http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=32007
cause its not updated, and I think a duplicate of wine-pulse -
http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=30419

b43-firmware-newest - http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=32338
cause its a duplicate of b43-firmware -
http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=21690

b43-fwcutter-patched - http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=32337
cause its an outdated package and I think the patches are in upstream in
core/b43-fwcutter

b43-fwcutter-git - http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=34093
cause the git-repo does not exists anymore.

Thanks and greetings
