Click the links, then log in.
At the right side is an "Package Actions" box.
Click "File Request".
"Request type: Deletion" is the default.

When was the last time, that you read an email sent to
aur-general AT archlinux.org?

[aur-general] Package deletion request

2014-12-28 Thread foalsrock
Hi,
I'd like the removal of two freshly uploaded packages. I've uploaded them
without much testing (shame on me) and they now unnecessarily conflict.

python-bidi: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/python-bidi/
python2-bidi: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/python2-bidi/

Thanks

You can make the delete request through the aur interface on that packages
page. Check the file request link.

[aur-general] Package deletion

2014-09-17 Thread Storm Dragon

Hi,
My package rbspeex-git was deleted with no explination and no time to fix
whatever errors may exist in the package. I was lead to believe that if errors
were found in a package that the maintainer was to be given an alert of the
problems and time to fix it. I know of at least 10 people who were asking for
this package, and it's removal in such an unprofessional manner intrupts
service for at least some of them. Just in case there are errors in the
PKGBUILD, I'm attaching it for any advice on correcting it.
I'm just kind of surprised that some of the people who review packages aren't
familiar with proceedures, or just choose to ignore them. What steps should be
taken to complain about a member who has gone about the process in the wrong
way?
Thanks

About a month ago I submitted a package (vmware-usbarbitrator) that
contained the VMware-USBArbitrator script, as well as a systemd service to

Now, Det has managed to integrate that, among other interesting features,
in one package only: vmware-patch; thus making VMware on Arch Linux much
less fragmented concerning additional packages required.

The package vmware-usbarbitrator is now deprecated. Please remove it when

Well, all PKGBUILDs are only a kind of installation instructions,
readable for machines. Normally, there are URLs to the sources in the
PKGBUILD and they get automatically downloaded when you run makepkg.
The problem here is that the files aren't (legally) available in the
internet, so makepkg can't get these files.
It is not really a fancy solution, but there is no alternative and there
is a note in the PKGBUILD that you need to get the files from TTD before
creating the package, so normally there should be no problem, because
(in my opinion) everybody should take a look at the PKGBUILD before
installing a package.

Ah, sorry, i'm new to these things.
In that case is there any point in having the package at all if it
just contains the PKGBUILD file?
Installation instructions are clearly documented on OpenTTDs wiki..
http://wiki.openttd.org/Installation#Choosing_TTD_for_base_graphics
(I know they are put in different folders, but they do the same thing...)

Okay, download was the wrong word... On the page linked in the PKGBUILD
are links for buying TTD to get the files.
And if you look into the package tarball[1], you can see that there are
no unfree files, only the PKGBUILD.
The purpose of the package is that you download the PKGBUILD, buy TTD,
copy the files from TTD into the directory with the PKGBUILD, run
makepkg and install the package you got. There's nothing illegal about
it and in my opinion no reason to delete the package from AUR.

Not this garbage again. When will you understand that guidelines for
PKGBUILD submission aren't based on the inabilities of even less
supported AUR tools?

Or projects like yaourt, aurbuild, etc. can figure out a way to support
them. They already contains all sorts of other ugly hacks. Why not
find a way to support this as well?

The AUR handles them just fine. Just like last time you ranted about
this, you're conflating two very separate problems.

No, they are not convenient on AUR! They are only conveniant in the
binary repos!

When do people understand, that split packages in AUR regularly cause
problems as long as split packages are not officially supported by AUR?
They regularly cause problems with the AUR helpers like yaourt,
aurbuild, etc. And there are even more problems if other packages
depend on a subpackage of these split packages on AUR, because neither
pacman nor the AUR helper nor anything else can find those subpackages
and resolve those dependencies.

Either AUR finally gets official support for split packages or split
packages are avoided in AUR.

The problem are not the split packages themselves, the problem is that
AUR can't handle them.

Interesting, I did not think of that. However, I do not believe that
treating standard X, that system Y is applicable to, as part of Y's
documentation package is elegant; instead, Y's documentation should
merely reference X (as hier(7) does in the "CONFORMING TO" section). The
reasoning is that system Z might also be applicable to X (inelegant,
since there would exist a redundant copy of X), and more importantly, X
is self-contained. That would mean that X should exist separately as a
package, instead of being a component of Y-docs and Z-docs. I do not
believe that this packaging infrastructure (pacman, official and
unofficial repos, AUR) is well suited for offline content not pertaining
to specific software, since the functionality is specifically targetted
towards software packages.

If my reasoning is sound, then a FHS package is outside the scope of
this infrastructure.

[aur-general] Package Deletion/Merge: batterymon

2012-03-02 Thread Jarek Sedlacek
Package batterymon [1] is broken and will remain broken as long as arch
kernels are built without CONFIG_ACPI_PROCFS_POWER.

It can be replaced by batterymon-clone [2] which is a fork of the same
project that gets battery information from /sys instead of /proc.

Could batterymon be deleted and the votes merged?

[aur-general] Package Deletion: perltidy

2012-02-29 Thread Jarek Sedlacek
Package perltidy in aur seems to be a duplicate of perl-tidy in community.
It hasn't been updated since 2010, and in the comments on the AUR page the
maintainer acknowledges it can go.

[aur-general] Package Deletion Request: 3to2-hg

2012-02-28 Thread Jarek Sedlacek
Can someone delete 3to2-hg? I maintain 3to2 as well as the latest version
from mercurial, but since the project has stopped updating there is no
point in maintaining the development version.

Thanks,

perl-shared[1] should be deleted because it is *very* out of date, has

[aur-general] package deletion request

2011-07-21 Thread Auguste Pop
Hi,

I am the current maintainer of osd-lyrics
(http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=30489). One of the upstream
developer commented on the package and requested a rename to
osdlyrics, and I have uploaded osdlyrics
(https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=50877) accordingly to AUR.
Although upstream page on googlecode is still osd-lyrics, their github
name is osdlyrics. and I have found a git commit explicitly convert
all osd-lyrics occurrences into osdlyrics. So, osdlyrics should be the
upstream choice for the package's name.
Sorry for all the mess this package has created.

Best Regards,

[aur-general] Package deletion tomcat-fhs

2011-05-10 Thread Guillaume ALAUX
Hello,

Package "tomcat-fhs" [0] from AUR is an out-of-date duplicate of [1] with no
particular improvement (along with strange naming).

I would thus vote for deletion of "tomcat-fhs" [0] even though it seems it
was submitted first.
