[Aus-soaring] VMFG Video of Duo Discus Flight at Mt Beauty this Easter

2008-03-27 Thread John Parncutt
Hi,

The following you tube link is of a video taken yesterday at Mt Beauty. The
video camera was mounted on the wing of our Duo Discus which was then winch
launched on Mt Beauty Gliding clubs winch.

The original footage is close to DVD quality but had to be compressed (and
slightly shortened) in order to be put on the you tube site.

Cheers,

Re: [Aus-soaring] Swimmers getting helped by new surfaces

2008-03-27 Thread Ben Jones
If swimmers wish to better there own performance, why don't they just swim
in budgie smugglers and continue to inject steroids.

Its a proven concept and works really well, just ask the Chinese.

[Aus-soaring] 2 day NSW RASP Blipmaps forecasts now available ......

2008-03-27 Thread Bernie Baer
I have implemented 'Current+1' processing on the NSW Blipmaps - which means
that in the evening after, say, 1800 you can see a forecast for tomorrow AND
the day after... great for planning your weekend away. Saturday is
looking good at this stage!

Temporarily (probably permanently) at
http://blipmap.walsys.net/UNI/univiewer.html (and only
available via the Univiewer interface).

The 'Current+1' forecast utilises AVN (low res) data, rather than the usual
GFS (high res) data. See
http://www.drjack.info/twiki/bin/view/RASPop/GFSvsAVN for more details.

Thanks to David George for his assistance.
