I have had five tows behind the Eurofox at Tocumwal 1 x IS28 for a check and
4 in Ventus 2CX the climb rate was good and I can say I have been towed by
worse like VH:RLC and some Pawnee's I was impressed with the fox as an aircraft
in its own right.

Ring Eddie I am sure he would be his usual helpful self why not go and fly in
Tocumwal great spot on the river you may even bump into Ingo Renner or Murray
the giant Cod

2011-09-28 Thread Daryl Mackay
Not to mention that when you do have the rope break/engine failure, you will
have less of a buffer between you at that instant and your options for a
safe outcome.

There is just nothing else like a Pawnee 235 (or more) when it comes to
height under your b*m.

Kind regards,
Daryl

[Aus-soaring] A road less travelled to the back of Bourke

2011-09-28 Thread Anthony Smith
A random question for a wet evening in Adelaide.

Does anyone have experience of the condition of the Wilcannia to Bourke Rd
(via Tilpa and Louth) in NSW? Particularly interested if it is simply
quicker and easier to go via Cobar (yes, glider trailer will be attached to
car).

Please reply direct to myself.

Regards

Anthony

Re: [Aus-soaring] Eurofox tug

2011-09-28 Thread Ian Mc Phee
Hi Daryl

True re 235+ although can say SuperCub with 180hp conversion is great and is
real fun to fly. Nothing beats HP to AUW ratio when watered gliders/open
class are involved. Not sure about UL but I can say behind a motorglider
towing there in NO slipstream at all !!! - so students have less problems
with the aerotow.

Ian M
(and Daryl I still remember that RAAF Williamtown Auster all those years
ago!!!)

Re: [Aus-soaring] Clearnav new software

2011-09-28 Thread Jim Staniforth
I've had a few flights with beta software .525 now. No problems.
The HW/TW component is nice.
Tasks on the main ribbon is convenient, but it's a lot of clicks from there to
the IGC declaration page.
Didn't try anything else.

Still no North up while circling option. But it's coming.
