Re: [Aus-soaring] Colibri II re-calibration

2014-03-26 Thread Tim Shirley

Hi Geoff,

The Colibri II Approval document was issued on 25 Feb 2012. No Colibri
II calibration can predate this so your point (1) applies to all of them.

As a result the only situation where Ben's C II would need calibration
is if he has lost his certificate.

The new rule applies only to electronic barographs, including those
incorporated in all Flight Recorders and some Position Recorders. In
a nutshell:-

(1) any calibration done on or after 1 October 2011 (eg: "current"
under the old rules) will be extended to its 5-year anniversary; and

(2) a calibration done before 1 October 2011 means the 5-year interval

Annex A (the World Comps Rules) says only that a current calibration

If your Colibri II is older than 5 years it must be a fairly early

Also, any accredited instrument repair workshop (one that calibrates ASI

Not to mention that the manoeuvre is aerodynamically impossible, even with the

It's a gameplay clip from a game called Battlefield 3, so yes, it is most
certainly a fake.

Just goes to show how good game graphics are getting these days, although
anyone who has played the game would probably recognise it straight away.

Is everyone aware of this? : Xtreme Soaring 3D

Buy the full version for $5.49. Pretty neat. You can practice winch

Generate your own maps at mapgen.xcsoar.org . The mapgen goes offline
pretty frequently at the moment so if it's not working, try again tomorrow.

Loading data into XC Soar for Goondiwindi I note that there are two maps
available: Northern NSW, and Queensland. Neither of these seem to cover the
complete comp area and XC Soar only enables one map to be loaded at a time
(I think). So which map do you load, or does it depend on the tasking for
the day ?

Thanks,
