Kind Regards The GFA Office Cathy, Tanya and Fiona Thank you for the quick processing of my GPC but... I received my GPC recently and was disappointed to see that it reflects almost none of my qualifications or achievements. I have an endorsement for independent operator level 2, replacement of components, annual inspector, Minor repair FRP, Surveys FRP. In my opinion this is a poor replacement for my FAI Gliding Certificate and FAI competitors license and GFA glider inspectors certificate and log book endorsements. I will soon need to add an AEI rating and coaching accreditation and it would seem that the proper place to record these ratings is in my log book because I will be using these and my other ratings and endorsements before they are reflected on my GPC. What is the point of a licensing system that is incomplete and does not keep pace with the achievements of our members. It is my belief that this system duplicates far superior methods of certification and is a waste of GFA resources -- Simon Rammelt 788 Cushnie Road Cushnie, Qld 4608 040 773 5433 ___ Aus-soaring mailing list Aus-soaring@lists.internode.on.net To check or change subscription details, visit: http://lists.internode.on.net/mailman/listinfo/aus-soaring

Re: [Aus-soaring] Fwd: Re: GPC Application from Simon Rammelt
Simon GPC is a flying qualification so will never reflect any airworthiness skills you may have. A CASA (or any other national) flight crew licence does not include any maintenance licences, they are a totally different kind of qualification, just the same as your driver's licence does not reflect any degree or other professional skill that your State government might issue. The fact you have airworthiness qualifications and a L2 IO nevertheless indicates you are accepted as a responsible member of our community, capable of making your own decisions as to the fitness for flight of both yourself and the machine you choose to fly. Congratulations and welcome to the clan! A remarkable story for gliding historians and others with just a mere interest in the sport. At last we can let subscribers know about the program under way at the University of Texas in Dallas. Learning about the whereabouts of active thermals whilst flying is now a possibility. A big funded research program is under way. See this current issue. The U.S. FAA have finally released the rules that will apply to the aerial use of drones. A must read for active soaring pilots. The Australian Airforce have applied flight restrictions on the ASK21 Mis. There needs to be a fix for the self launch Solo motor.
