it all came back up after 15 mins, it was a separate issue to the
"lightning strike" earlier this morning which affected 000 calls

seems to affect most (if not all) telstra MWAN services, certainly knocked
all of our sites offline as far south as Wodonga. even had a rare call from
our account manager to apologize and confirm there were issues.

2018-05-03 Thread Nikolas Geyer
Unfortunately I’d have to agree. The pictures of the lightning strike that
caused damage in Orange should not, in theory, have caused an IP network
instability given Telstras marketing of their “triple ladder design” in current
Next IP brochures.

Systemic root cause likely will not become public, but it doesn’t take a
stretch of the imagination to realise something else went wrong with the loss
of a single route within said design of the IP network.

[AusNOG] Telstra issues still happening?

2018-05-03 Thread Matt Harlum
Sorry to post a new thread, I just joined the list and don't have a message
from the old one to reply to.

We've seen reports that the issue is resolved however my customers who are on
Telstra still have intermittent connectivity issues to us, and we also noticed
that traffic to www.debian.org (150.203.164.62) intermittently works & looking
at trace route it goes through a couple of Telstra routers between us and them.

Is anyone else experiencing ongoing connectivity issues re: the Telstra outage?

Regards,
Matt Harlum

2018-05-03 Thread Paul Vinton
Yes – still the same in SA. Just chatted with Telstra and they said it is
around 6 hours to resolution.

In the meantime disable phone over 4G.

Thanks,

Paul

We've seen reports that the issue is resolved however my customers who are on
Telstra still have intermittent connectivity issues to us, and we also noticed
that traffic to www.debian.org (150.203.164.62)
intermittently works & looking at trace route it goes through a couple of
Telstra routers between us and them.

Is anyone else experiencing ongoing connectivity issues re: the Telstra outage?

The MWAN/IPWAN issues from earlier today that I originally reported were
resolved for us but I've heard of ongoing issues with 4G data connections
as recently as an hour ago
