I’m sure all DOCSIS and DSL modems are potentially capable of being infected as
they are all managed.

2021-02-17 Thread Giles Pollock
That number rings a bell, think I got the same mob a week ago thereabouts.
Got a bit creative with them and probably wasted an hour of their time.
Sadly they got upset when I tried to "bargain" down their service cost of
$500 to something more reasonable (like three cents and a ball of string).

I figure an hour of their time wasted is time they can't go scamming some
unfortunate souls out of their bank balance. I did get an IP address from
them poking around my scammer bait VM though.

How are they making calls into AU mobile networks ?

Surely they need a SIP service as a starting point.

Is it a VoIP seller not performing checks ??

Re: [AusNOG] Widespread Optus issue this morning?

2021-02-17 Thread DaZZa
Just got an update from the Optus NOC.

Looks like it was a change gone wrong this morning (change C70351 if
anyone cares/has access to look it up) at about 05:50 AEDT

Change was rolled back at 10:56 am AEDT, and they're reporting the
network appears stable but are continuing to monitor.

So doesn't appear to be anything sinister other than a change which
wasn't tested well enough.
