Sorry, no test case, though I do use it daily.

The nice thing about this change is that any such test case could now
be done by comparing depmode=cpp against depmode=gcc output. I'm
unlikely to have the time to do this at the moment though

It is time for us to start writing test code for depcomp.
Do you have a test case for this?  I'd like to add it to the automake
test suite before checking in this change.
