Which is the 'proper' repository to fetch lgi from?

Ignore https://github.com/psychon/lgi. That's just so that I can do github pull requests. I don't have a single interesting patch in there and even if there were any, I'd turn them into a pull request. So https://github.com/pavouk/lgi is the one and only true answer.
