[Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Re: Negative Inventory
Hi, I think Negative Inventory should not be allowed in Axapta if your Production and Trade is in sync. with Axapta and your Axapta On Hand quantity is equal to Actual On Hand. But even in this case you can use Inventory Negative for few items like Packing Material, Cartons etc. Sometimes it can be useful if you are using Back Flush for Production. Regards Anil Sinha --- In Axapta-Knowledge-Village@yahoogroups.com, Rocco Giumelli [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: I glad to see that inventory is a issue for all. We are engaged in a debate in whether or not to implement the system allowing inventory to go negative. I am not a fan of this setup. Does anyone have any thoughts of whether this is advisable, or under what conditions this should be considered? I would agree that in a perfect world the inventory should never go negative. Unfortunately, at every company I have worked with, the world has not been perfect, so allowing negative inventories was necessary. I look at this way: If due to unknown errors by unknown employees the inventory is wrong, do you want the system to stop employee X from trying to correctly perform his job because the system believes he is creating an error causing the inventory to go negative. Often times this employee is not in a position to correct or troubleshoot the error anyway. My $.02. Bruce Sharing the knowledge on Axapta. Yahoo! Re: [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Sql Error
Hi, This is not a problem with Axapta but in Sql DataBase(orphaned users). Steps To Resolve Orphaned Users Problem 1. Run the following command for the orphaned user from the preceding step: Use AXDB go sp_change_users_login Auto_fix, 'bmssa' This relinks the server login bmssa with the the AXDB database user bmssa. 2. Executing the sp_change_users_login procedure with the optional Auto_Fix option may create logins with a NULL password for users without an existing corresponding login.Change the password by using SP_PASSWORD Stored procedure. [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Re: Demand Planner
Hi Flemming I'm not aware of any problems regarding date format. I would appreciate if you could elaborate on this issue. Any other date format than the US one does not import to the Demand Planner. Why wouldn't you sell the software? I was about to write: Because it's a piece of crap. but then I decided to be a bit more constructive than that. There are several shortcomings as far as I can see: - not integrated. Why do I have to have a whole new set of permission and right management for this tool and can't use the Axapta one? - synchronization issues, as stated above. Axapta could easily be adapted to synch from the Demand Planner by changing the date format - but it didn't work the other way around. - lack of documentation, as stated before. I will elaborate on that later on in my post. - several serious design flaws in the front end. It takes too much closing of windows, using several submenus and buttons that are used in another way than windows standards to achieve even small things. Is it because you can't see the use for the features that the Demand Planner offers? Then I can understand that you won't be so impertinent to sell the software. Actually I do see the use - why else would I even bother working with it? Right now a report to Excel with some embedded functions is working better for my clients than what the DP offers - sad but true. Regarding the documentation, I will not agree with you. When installing the Demand Planner you get the following documentation: * Installation Guide. Which is basically telling me how to click through the installer and then includes some basic SQL concepts. Now *that* was a big help. * A very extensive Demonstration Guide. Okay, yes, this one was good. * You can order the detailed training material from Patnersource. Or I can't. Don't get me wrong, I seriously wanted to like the software. Finally a Demand Planning tool for Axapta coming right from Microsoft. With Excel integration, multiple forecast methods, highly adaptable formula and warning system, multiple dimensions and so on.. sounded like I found a real gem. But after clicking through the installation and the demonstration and trying to run forecasts on real world data, my enthusiasm was gone immediately. I can see the huge potential in that tool and maybe all the flaws will be fixed in the next version - and I really hope for that. And hey, never forget: Our potential, your passion. RE: [Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Re: Demand Planner
Hi A few more issues from my side. I hate the name of the Axapta table associated with demand planner. The table name starts with MBS_ (forgotten the complete name). Axapta has an impressive naming convention and the name of the table starting with MBS_ is just not acceptable. Further, this table is hidden in AOT. What for? The Axapta practice is to make the objects available for modification by default and as far as possible. Further, look at the code written to transfer the data into standard Axapta tables. The way the code is written is a big, massive joke. Now for you these may be small issues. But for me these are very essential aspects. Sort of a big warning. I will not get into the design flaws in the front end and back end since someone else has pointed them correctly. In fact this has got me thinking.. is this a taste of things to come in Axapta 4.0? Is this what Microsoft is planning? Completely ruin the existing conventions? Hi, To tell you the truth, I have got no idea. But I have started asking around and should receive some feedback by next month as to what exactly is going to happen in 4.0 My feeling is (and this is my gut-feeling, not substantiated by any fact at all) that 4.0 will be the end of Axapta for all practical purposes. The technology Microsoft is developing for ERP applications will be sufficiently developed by then to write a new ERP software.
