[Axapta-Knowledge-Village] Japanese on AX via Citrix

2009-02-20 Thread James Flavell
Hi everyone,

I was wondering if anyone can advise on the setup of needing to run AX2009
over Citrix for Japanese users before I embark on attempting such.

My understanding is I should make sure the server (for both AX AOS and
Citrix servers I am not sure or just the Citrix server?) have the same
Windows langauge pack installed (installed or actaully set for the
particular user again I am not sure?) as the client PC and then everything
should work fine.

My concern is that I thought there is two flavours of the windows server and
client OSes (such as XP) one thats 'core' is English and a Japanese langauge
setting can be enabled but there is also a pure Japanese windows OS (i.e. it
is NOT normal XP but has a different japense 'core'). I am unsure if there
is trouble ahead if either client or server or both have the japanese core

Can anyone shed any light on this? Is there any truth to my understandings
of the core versions of the OS?

Also if anyone has any info on whether AX2009 addresses any Japanese local
requirements that would be greatly appreciated

Thanks once again to you all
James

It was a bug in Ax2009, this issue has been fixed in Ax2009 Sp1. Refer Sp1
Document.

Sanam Khan,

If I understand your requirement, you do NOT need to write custom
code; there IS a way in standard AX to use a custom number sequence
for sales orders by customer.

You can create a Number Sequence Group for each customer that needs a
custom number sequence. Assign that Number Sequence group on the
setup tab of the Customer - see if that works for you.

Launch the help. Type in Number Sequence Group, sort, and look for
the Number Sequence Group (form). You will see a full explanation
there for how to set it up.

No this is not possible through AX configuration. You have to custom code to

Thanks a lot for your help. Let me clear my point. I know that system
generates a number sequence for each transaction. My requirement is that is
it possible functionality wise in AX that when I create a sales order by
selecting company A in department dimension then Sales order number A001
should be generated and when I create a sales order by selecting company B
in dimension then sales order number B001 should be generated. I know it is
possible by writing the code but I want to know that can I do it from AX by
 using any functionality.

 Waiting for your response

 Sanam Khan

I am not sure what you mean by attach so I will respond with my
interpretation of your words. Please recognize that I may not
 understand your requirement.

Dimensions need to be pre-defined and then they are attached to
transaction records. If you want to programmatically create new
dimensions, you can create a number sequence and get numbers from that
sequence programmatically to insert a new dimension into the
dimensions list. Is that what you want to do? This is all developer
work to do but you have emailed the knowledge village group, rather
than the developer group. Perhaps you can get a developer to help you
 to implement your solution.
