How to monitor SOAP messages in the Client without changing the server?

2009-04-14 Thread Joe Smithian
Hi all,

Can any one please let me know how can I display SOAP request and response
messages in a SOAP AXIS2 Client GUI application? I'd like to display them
for test, demo and debug purposes. The communication between client and
server is based on HTTPS so I can't use external monitoring tools such as
TCPmon or TcpTrace. I need to do that without any change in the server so I
can not use SOAPMonitor in the server. I want to monitor the SOAP messages
from/to my client application only, not the whole traffic to the server. I
can see the SOAP request and response messages in the log4j log file in the
client, but what I need is some APIs in the client side which I can use to
display the SOAP messages in my own GUI client. I want to display SOAP
messages in a GUI window in real-time.

I'd appreciate your comments.

Thanks

Joe

How to force Axis2 to reload aar and WSDL?

2009-04-14 Thread Joe Smithian
Hi

In my Tomacat & AXIS 2 web services server if DNS has been setup properly,
browsing myserverURL/services/myService?wsdl displays the WSDL file. If DNS
has not been setup it shows an AXIS2 error message and I see in the Tomcat
log that it can not access the schema links defined in the WSDL which make
sense. The problem is that it displays the same error even after configuring
the DNS. The only way to make it work is to uninstall and then reinstall the
tomcat and axis2 which is not an acceptable solution in a production
environment. So my question is how to force Tomcat/Axis2 to use the new DNS
and reload WSDL without reinstalling them? I tried deleting the tomcat
'work' directory but it didn't help.

Another related problem is that if replace the current aar with a new one
and restart tomcat it still runs the old one with the old WSDL. Again the
question is how to force Tomcat/Axis2 to use the new aar and new WSDL?

I've searched for the WSDL file in the tomcat and axis directories but
couldn't find it, is it generated dynamically?

Please comment or refer to the relevant documentation.

Thanks

Joe

Possible bug in axis2 1.4

2009-04-14 Thread Mohannad Hammadeh
Hi there,

I have recently upgraded from apache axis2 1.3 to 1.4 and noticed some strange
behaviour when I deploy my wsdl aar files in axis2 under tomcat.

My aar file structure is as follows:
TstServerConsumerNE.aar
  META-INF
TstServerConsumerNE.wsdl
TstServerConsumerInterface.wsdl
StandardError.xsd
service.xml

The WSDL has the following service:

 http://DUMMY_VALUE"/>

Originally, when being deployed under axis2 1.3, axis2 resolved the host to and
port correctly:

  http://localhost:8080/axis2/services/TstServerConsumerNE"/>

  http://localhost:8080/axis2/services/TstServerConsumerNE"/>

  http://localhost:8080/axis2/services/TstServerConsumerNE"/>

However when I upgraded to axis2 1.4, the host and port where not modified so
my WSDL contained the DUMMY_VALUE as the location. I deleted the
StandardError.xsd and re-deployed the aar file, axis2 1.4 generated the
following:

  http://localhost:8080/axis2/services/TstServerConsumerNE.TstServerConsumerNEHttpSoap11Endpoint"/>

  http://localhost:8080/axis2/services/TstServerConsumerNE.TstServerConsumerNEHttpSoap12Endpoint"/>

  http://localhost:8080/axis2/services/TstServerConsumerNE.TstServerConsumerNEHttpEndpoint"/>

Why does axis2 1.4 generate the address as host.port? Is there any way i can
get it to behave the same way as axis2 1.3 did?

Regards,

Could you any one here help me get out this strange scenario?

ServiceGroupContext is null

2009-04-14 Thread Alexander Rosemann

Hi,

I'm trying to use the ServiceGroupContext to share data among a Handler
and Services.

I've implemented an AuthenticationDispatcher (extends AbstractHandler)
and added it to the security phase of the InFlow phase order. The
AuthenticationDispatcher gets called each time a request comes in.

Within the AuthenticationDispatcher I'm getting the ServiceGroupHandler
from the MessageContext parameter. Unfortunately calling,
ServiceGroupContext sgc = mc.getServiceGroupContext(); returns always null.
Afaik is the ServiceGroupContext the right place to share data between
services.

All services are in one aar-file and declared within a serviceGroup. The
scope of each service is set to application.

I'm using axis2-1.4.1 deployed as part of a webapp running in Tomcat 5.5.

Any pointers are much appreciated.

Regards,
Alex

soap encoding support?

2009-04-14 Thread Martin Fernau
As far as I understand - if I get this error with wsdl2java trying to generate
code from a pre axis2 webservice:

--- cut
[...]
SchemaCompilationException: can not find type
{http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/encoding/}Array from the parent schema
--- cut

then I've no chance to generate code from this older wsdl file because soap
encoding isn't supported by axis2 - right?
So I need to try my luck with axis2 and POJO to get a client working with such
a service?? (this webservice is not maintained by me)

Martin

href mistake on "Creating Client" page of User's Guide

2009-04-14 Thread John
At http://ws.apache.org/axis2/1_3/userguide-creatingclients.html#adb, it reads:

==
Axis Data Binding (ADB)

To create a client using ADB, execute the following steps: The short story:
1. href="http://ws.apache.org/axis2/download/1_3/download.cgi#std-bin"; Download
and unpack the Apache Axis2 Standard Distribution...
==

There is a mistake with the href attribute of the anchor tag.  Rather then
having the "download" link take the reader to the URL, the href attribute
appears directly on the page.

You are trying to access the TCP transport endpoint using HTTP. That will not
work. Do you want to use HTTP or (raw) TCP?

Hi all,
(Axis 2.14.)
In my scenario we need a header mentioning the Content Length of the SOAP
response
and we extend AxisServlet ,and do the super.doPost(request,response).
Can some body let me know how to extract the response size .

Thanks,
Sriram

You can do that by editing axis2.xml, however as I can see you have this
problem in client side. you might have to create your client with
custom axis2.xml.

To unsubscribe, you need to send a mail to

Configuration Question about Changing PORT 6060

Hi,

I use apache Axis2 on an laptop very succesfull. I tried to migrate my examples
on an IBM ThinkPad. Here I got errormessage and all services and also the
default version Services do not work. The Problem seems to be that port 6060 is
used from IBM's security software. I tried to configure axis2.conf and apache
to user an other port without success. What did I wrong?

Fwd: Extracting attribute values from SAML token in rampart sample 05

Hi

Did some more testing, see inline for comments

creating this looks to me like there has to be a request security token
element in the soap body, if not there is an TrustException thrown. I want
to look at these saml attributes at the end service, then the saml assertion
would be in the header. My thoughts are as follows:

1. Rampart at the end service sees if the saml assertion in the header is
signed by the sts service.
2.If it is signed -- the service or a own module for this purpose, not sure
what would be the best option-- will look at these attributes and see if the
users can perform the wanted action. Then I of course need to extract the
SAML attributes from the assertion, but maybe it's easier to just parse the
header and look for the attribute element.

cheers, håkon

Re: Authentication for non SOAP messages

2009-04-14 Thread Alexander Rosemann
Would it be feasible to throw an AxisFaul in the handler? Would the
AxisFault be able to return an error XML message to the client?

Another question where I'm uncertain is where should I store the flag
that indicates a client has been authenticated? Would the
ServiceGroupContext be the appropriate place for that?

Any pointers into the right direction are much appreciated.

Thanks,
Alex

I'm just puzzled how I can directly send a response message in case the
user has not logged in first.

Suspend/Resume a web service not working through AdminServlet

2009-04-14 Thread Sandeep Dhanuka
Hi,

I am using Axis 1.4 and looking for a way to suspend/resume individual
web services without restarting the server(Tomcat).

I tried configuring AdminServlet with property
"axis.development.system" and was able to get to the page where all
the hosted webservice are listed along with the suspend/resume links,
but even after suspending a service, I was able to access the service
and get the response.

I tried to look in to the source code for SOAPService class, the stop
and start method just set a boolean variable and the java docs states
that the methods are just the placeholders.

Can someone please point me to appropriate classes and methods, using
which I can implement my own servlet to suspend/resume webservices
similar to the AdminServlet provided by Axis.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Sandeep
