[AZORES-Genealogy] Re: Obit - Joao Luis Pacheco - Toronto, Ontario Canada

2009-01-30 Thread bbffrrpp

Hello,

Since my husband's great-grandfather was reportedly named, Joao
PACHECO, probably born mid-1800's in Sao Miguel, I am curious if
anyone knows where this man was born in 1924.

The grandfather was born in Sao Miguel in ~1885 and came to MA/US in
~1905, and he was Antonio PACHECO.Tony is one of my brick
walls, as I don't know if he had siblings, and I don't know if he
had relatives in the USA or Canada. I heard 6 mos. ago that
another family in Cambridge, MA, US, was related to him, but, as yet,
we have no proof.

Betty (near Lowell, MA, USA)

[AZORES-Genealogy] National Repository of Portuguese History

2009-01-30 Thread Gerry

Cheri, I am attaching an article from today's Cape Cod Times that may
be of interest to the group.
This national repository of Portuguese History At UMASS-Dartmouth will
be a wonderful resource for researching Portuguese families,
histories, etc. They will continue adding material, as well as hoping
to receive material from those who have done so much on their own.
The UMASS website is:
http://www.lib.umassd.edu/archives/paa/paa.html

The newspaper article can be found at:

Just a hint, the couple at the bottom of the page is the oldest and the
 trees go up!
