Hi, I came across a marriage record dated 1878-July-15 a for Maria Santa de Betencourt in Rosais, Velas. Daughter of Manuel da Silveira da Cunha and Maria Joaquina. Do you have Maria Santa's husband's name? The groom on this record is 50 years old, single, Manuel Jacinto Miguel. His parents are; Miguel Antonio de Sequeira and Ana Vicenzia? dos Anjos. here's the link http://pg.azores.gov.pt/drac/cca/biblioteca_digital/SJVRC1870-1879/SJVRC1870-1879_item1/P70.html The town of Rosais is on line at the Azores, CCA site. RE: [AZORES-Genealogy] Borba Family Tree
Hello Adair, How exciting! I can't wait to see your new information. Yes, I'm on Ancestry if you want to send me that invite. My Matos line is from San Jorge, but don't show any connection (YET!) of my Borba line being there, but you never know. My Bettencourt line also had connections in Sao Jorge and then Terceria too!... but then Graciosa prior as well from what my Mother has. So, you never know. Haven't had the time to devote to researching the Borba line lately. Last I remember, my 2nd Great Grandfather was one of 12 children. I've made one connection on this group with one of his sibling lines and that's it so far. Two down and ten more to go! [AZORES-Genealogy] Re: Christmas Day in the Azores
Ginger, You should be able find the actual date of your Grandfather's birth/ baptism as recorded on the parish or civil register. Most Portuguese parish and civil registry records were microfilmed by LDS for the period you mention. All you need is a few facts about the family, where they lived, the ability to read Portuguese, and access to an LDS Family History Center.
