2012-08-08 Thread pbr4gen

Hi, Mr. Ventura --

Thank you very much for your helpful information.

Thus far the marriage record for Antonia Francisca and Joao Ferraz Conico
(thank you again, Margaret), AKA Joao da Costa Ferraz, remains elusive. I've
also yet to find the birth record for Antonia Francisca herself; I *think* that
the Maria in the 1757 baptismal record is Antonia Francisca's sister.

I'll keep looking!

Thank you again.

Kind regards,
Patricia

Thanks to George Pacheco, he found 4 generations for me. And since the
village of Fajanzinha is fairly small, I thought there maybe I could find
someone distant cousins on this list. So if you have a Fajanzinha line, drop

Here are a few names: Frade, Henriques, Machado, Fraga, Avelar.

Patricia,

You should also take a look at Joao and Antonia's daughter Maria birth
record. Note it says Antonia is from Sao Pedro, Ribeira Grande. People
did move around and it is very possible she was born and perhaps married to
Joao in Ribeira Grande.

[AZORES-Genealogy] Antone Machado Souza - Maria Delphia Silveira

2012-08-08 Thread hdsilva

Greetings to All

I’m new to Google Groups – Azores Geneology and am not quite sure how this
works, but here goes.

My great grandfather was Manuel Thomaz Silviera, Born February 7, 1865 in
Biscoitos, Calheta, Sao Jorge, Azores. He passed on October 9, 1952.

My great grandmother was Mary Bernarda Luiz, Born in 1871, in Biscoitos,
Calheta, Sao Jorge, Azores. She passed in 1961

Both great grandparents are buried in San Luis Obispo, California, USA

My great great grandfather was Antone Machado Souza, and my great great
grandmother was Maria Delphia Silveira. I assume that they both were born
and died on Sao Jorge, Azores

I am unable to find any information about my great great grandparents.

I;m a little concerned about the family surname being passed from my great
great grandmother, as I have only known of the male surname being passed
forward. Any information on this tradition would be appreciated.

One cousin tells me that the family name goes back to Willem van der
Haegen, who accepted the Portuguese translation of Guilherme da Silveira.

Where do I look? What books might have helpful information?

I’m relatively new at this Geneology hobby, and have hit this brick wall.
Looking
forward to hearing from all of you.
