Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] Dutra en Argentina
Hi Nestor, There are some online records for Faial here: http://goo.gl/y1fJs There are about 12 or 13 freguesias (villages). Since you don't know which one, you will have to search them all. The ones online will be easy. Just click the link. For the others, you will have to order the film from your local Family History Center. There are some emigration records from Faial to Brasil. They are not online. I think they go only back to the 1850s. I don't think that is back far enough for you. [AZORES-Genealogy] Family Tree Maker transferring data question
I finally found the time to transfer my updated Family Tree Maker family file to my mini from my laptop which I had not updated since we set up the computer in 1911. In transferring the info, the file on the mini said it could not open and copy because there was a file open. I do not know what they are talking about as there is no file open as far as I am concerned so that is my first problem. In the meantime, it let me open and copy and called the new file by same name No. 2 So now I have 2 FTW family files the old one without the updated info and the new one with all the new info I had input into my laptop and they are both now on my mini. I know this occupies a lot of space to have 2 and am considering the deleting first one and keeping the 2nd but am a little hesitant to do so. I cannot figure out what they mean that there is a "file open" on the first one when we tried to open and replace (1) instead of open and copy (2). Hope you understand all of this. Second, I did my grandson in law's genealogy before he married my granddaughter in a FTW separate file. Now I would like to merge the two files. I made sure his name and my granddaughter's name are exactly the same in both files. How do I go about merging these two FTW files? Thank you. Elaine, if you are worried about losing any of the information from the file you delete, can you put the file on a CD? I am not sure about this; however, you might ask Joao Ventura, he uses FTM. Hi Deb, Re first born, if you compare the date of the parents marriage 1879 versus the baptism 1880 there you will have the answer, yes in this case he is their firstborn son. Deb, Manuel, first of the name, means he's the first boy to be named Manuel. Search back in time and find out if there are more babies born to this couple. DON'T go back to the marriage date and assume that all the children have to be born in wedlock. I've found kids born to the couple before the marriage occurred.
