I need to start using the Madeira genealogy group website for this side of the family, when I get it. Several generations back are only from Canhas. How the heck are you? My mom, Lucile Pimentel, your dad's niece, is still alive and still lives out on the ranch on Fruit Ave. She is 98. I had heard from her that Wilfred had Pimentel family genealogy work done. However he died in 2012, so is no longer around to share it. Our branch of the Pimentels is from Fajazinha as Doug mentioned. When you speak of Manuel and Maria and 6 siblings what was their relationship to your dad? (Your dad was one of my grandfather's younger brothers. Both of my grandparents were Pimentels. (It's complicated). I noticed that they all used Frates or Freitas as a middle name - or so I thought. Me! Me! Well, maybe. I don't have my genealogy software installed in this new computer, but I checked my dad's DNA page and accessed the tree. I have: Lucia de Frias? (Once I get my software reinstalled, I'll see what I mean by the question mark). Born early to mid 1600s, try Sao Pedro, Vila Franca, married Domingos de Souza. She died before 5 Dec 1683, try Sao Pedro, Vila Franca. Again, once I reinstall all my programs, I can see my notes and what I mean by try Sao Pedro, Vila Franca. My guess is that it means she wasn't in Sao Miguel Arcanjo.
