Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] Re: Ships manifest from Porto, Portugal to Brazil around October 1911

2014-09-24 Thread Carolyn M

“E”

I and a couple of my cousins have family trees on Ancestry.com and we
have my grandfather Antonio Reixelo listed. The family you spotted coming
from Hawaii on the S.S. Sonoma is my grandfather and his family; we have
that on our family trees too.

What we don’t have is a ships manifest showing Vitorino de Jesus Reixelo
(Antonio’s brother) who left Porto in or around October 1911 for Brazil .
This manifest is what I am hoping to find. It appears that Ancestry.com
doesn't have this type of ship manifest information, not even in the card
catalog. So I will focus on Brazil and the Brazil links that have been so
kindly provided.

  Thanks for your research!

I found a family of 8 spelled Reixello, father Antonio, from Portugal (2

Thank you Bill. This is one of the big issues looking in Graciosa: every name

Lee and Eliseu,

Many of my Conde family is from Guadalupe, but some originated in Luz. The
closest I have is a João de Sousa do Conde, married to Maria Custódia. I have
the marriage for their son's marriage (Andre de Sousa do Conde to Rosa
Ermelinda do Conde.)

Here is the record:

I haven't gone further back, but looking at the dates, it just doesn't match up
to your João and Maria

I haven't found a home for this João yet, but I have him in my personal index.
Two Conde children died in the same year, one 9 years and the other 8 months
(both in the month of November of 1861). Their maternal grandfather is a João
Jose do Conde, but his wife is Roza de Mello Pacheco. Here is the first record
if you are interested.

The following is what I have for my cousin Nadine's line to Joao de Conde and
Maria:

 - Nadine Mendence (changed from Mendonca) 1957 md Dave Hill (my cousin)

- Albert Mendence (1923) still living - hoping he will consent to do the DNA
testing. He is the oldest member of his line. m. Mildred Tonini (1925-1999)

- Frank Mendence 1797-1944 m. Maria Laureano ((1904-1991) from Ilha Sao Jorge

- Joao Correa de Mendonca (12.28.1861-6.24.1923) from Luz, Graciosa - m.
Adelaide Augusta Andrade (1868-1933) from Faial - Married abt 1886 (marriage
record not found yet)

- Antonio Correa de Mendonca (6.20.1820-??) m. Maria Perpetua da Santo Antonio
(no dates yet) - from Luz

 Married 9.15.1856 in Luz

- Florinda Baptista de Bettencourt (Abt 1780-10.23.1825) m. Francisco Antonio
de Meneonca (1785-??)

 Married 1.16.1814 in Luz

- Maria Baptista de Bettencourt (4.29.1757-??) m. Domingos Jose de Bettencourt
(5.1741-After 1823?)

 Married 11.3.1793 in Luz

- Maria do Sacramento (abt 1729-4.5.1789) m. Antonio Lobao Botelho 10.30.1752
in Luz. (he was the son of Antonio Lobao Botelho and Felipa Espinola)

Maria's parents are given as Joao de Conde and Dona Maria ?? in the
marriage record link I enclosed earlier.

There was a confusion earlier; that I had he wrong Antonio Lobao (I had the
priest Father Antonio Lobao Botelho)...there were three of them with the same
name alive at the same time...the priest, and the father and son (the elder
Antono Lobao died 7.1750 in Luz and the son died 1.9.1758 - they had his age
terribly incorrect - which caused headaches too.

Hopefully, I haven't confused you with the above. Please let me know if you
need any further information - or there may be yet another Antonio I don't know
about!

Have you considered since she was a Dona, that she is likely the daughter
of an important person, such as Capitao or Sargento, or any other officer
or title such as morgado. Also note that her mother was likely also a Dona.

The problem that I'm having is that in the marriage record, Maria do

I have searched through the baptism of Sao Mateus and I there are several
Joao de Conde's with a wife named Maria - all in the same time period. I

I'm just throwing this out there in hopes that someone may recognize

Thanks for the suggestion. I've started looking children with mother named

Still frustrating though! Her name in the baptisms is only given (so far) as

Thanks again!
