[AZORES-Genealogy] Re: Ahnentafel charts (pedigree chart numbers) explained in Dick Eastman's newsletter/blog

2014-12-20 Thread Kalani N
I have my ahnentafel in Excel, but I just explain to people basically what
Dick Eastman does. I just stress that even numbers are males, odd are
females & then explain how to get to that specific number or if given a
specific number how to break it down going backwards.

Hmm, maybe my way is more complicated, but as I said, I put mine in Excel,
or a spreadsheet. But thinking of it like that for me, helps me get to the
specific ancestor/descendant by those calculations.

I come from a world of math. The subject is X. The father of X is 2X. The
mother of X is 2X + 1. But that's math geek speak. Doesn't make sense for
everyone, though.

I like that chart, it's very easy to work backwards to find the connections
-- just keep halving the numbers for Dad and +1 for Mom. I don't use it a
lot but it's nice to just run the chart and take it with you when you can't
bring your computer or flashdrive.

I like your explanation, Cheri. That's the best explanation I have seen yet.

[AZORES-Genealogy] CCA Records

2014-12-20 Thread Herb and Judi Silva
FYI to the Group I wrote to CCA to let them know that the marriages for 1739-1751 were not posted and also to let them know that the Ribeira Seca baptism records for 1767-1801 are missing.  Instead they posted obits for that period where the baptisms should be. Herb

I am not certain but I think they are there they are just not in the right

if I remember correctly one of those churches Sao Sebastiao, or Sao Jose
the marriages are messed up.
