[AZORES-Genealogy] Re: translation confirmation

2016-01-12 Thread bsei2816
I believe you have everything correct.. I also think you have all of
Barbara Florinda's name because I believe the next words are Forão
padrinhos... (godparents were...). As for the dates, baptism is as you
said, 9 Aug 1868; birth is certainly October 1867. I think I see the word
primeiro (first) but I'm not sure because the bleed-through on that line is
terrible. I think that line starts with the name of the parish then says
"no dia primeiro do mes de Outobro"

[AZORES-Genealogy] translation confirmation

2016-01-12 Thread themom8682 via Azores Genealogy

I think this record is my great grandfather. The only US record I have found
that I know with certainty is him is his death record (1912) which lists his
parents as "John Silveira" and "Marianna Florinda" and gives his birth as
"1870" "Azores". What I can get from this record is that he was baptized 9
August 1868, his father is Joao Silveira de Souza and his mother is Marianna
Florinda, paternal grandparents Manuel Silveira de Souza and Anna Luiza,
maternal grandparents Antonio Jose Vieira and Barbara Florinda . I
cannot make out what is written after Florinda. More importantly, it looks
like the record states that his birth was in October 1867 but that line is
really difficult to make out because of bleed-through from the back side of the
page (I'm guessing). It is the record on the top right, #35, Jose.

1. Did I get the information correct?
2. Can anyone help with the last part of Barbara Florinda's name?
3. Can anyone verify/clarify the birth date in October?

Thank you all

2016-01-12 Thread nancy jean baptiste
Welcome Kim,

I have a ggrandfather, Jose Pereira, born in 1836 and he had a brother Antonio
born in 1827oddly mine left the island in 1853 on a whaling ship and also
oddly, he married in 1866! Interesting coincidences! Mine stayed in New Bedford
after immigrating.

I'm sure you'll make many new discoveries this year. This group is amazingly
helpful!

Kind regards,

Nancy Jean Baptista
