Fenais da Luz has index for baptisms. Not easy to use because they use book
numbers instead of dates. Give it a try anyway.

This is where Margarida was located:

2017-10-29 Thread JR
You may have to find baptism of Margarida to confirm the correct parents.
But this record shows Jose Dias and Ana de Jesus, which is the name cited
in Margarida's marriage:

http://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/SMG-PD-FENAISDALUZ-C-1815-1827/SMG-PD-FENAISDALUZ-C-1815-1827_item1/P89.html

Jose Dias cc Anna de Jesus, March 2- 1823, Fenais da Luz; he is 32 yrs old,
filho de Jose Dias and Quiteria da Encarnacao; she is 24 yrs old filha de
Jose de Souza and Maria Antonia, both defuntos

Jose Dias Mancebo, widower and Anna Jacinta

Mancebo can be like Junior. However, it doesn't always indicate father and
son. It technically means younger. So he could have been named after his
uncle. But in your case, Jose Dias' dad is Jose Dias. :)

You can't read the grandparents on this marriage because there are none.
Grandparents aren't mentioned in marriage records, just baptisms. To see

Thank you all for your help I think I'm now on the right track With
that being said, I can't make out this marriage record for Jose Dias and Anna
(left page). It looks to me that his name is Jose Dias but there's another name
following the Dias that I can't make outcould be medeiros maybe?

As well I can't read the grandparents' name nor can I read where her
grandparents came from.
Omg, I hope I'm reading the right record... I'm pretty sure I am as I
calculated dates. If any of you could help me out in deciphering the writing I
will be forever grateful

Nelia,
One of the problems is that the priest (s) in S. Vicente were very sloppy about
reporting where the parents were baptized and married. They often say S.
Vicente when in fact it is Fenais da Luz. And, yes, the names do keep changing.
Here is what I have come up with:
Thanks for your reassurance everyone!
