[AZORES-Genealogy] Re: Joseph De Souza b 1828

2018-01-18 Thread Brett Moffitt
Thank you everyone for your responses. All very helpful. I had suspected
Faial but wanted to get other opinions.

Júlio, you raise an interesting point. I had only speculated that he
adopted the name Brown to assimilate. There is no mention of the name Brown
in his marriage certificate - it only appears gradually in the birth
certificates of his children. But he could have dropped Brum and picked it
up later with the similar sounding Brum.

According to this same documents, his parents are Joseph Le Swezer and Mary
Dolphin. Could it be Jose de Sousa and Maria Delfina?

Probably. More research will tell for certain, but I'd put those names as
options.

[AZORES-Genealogy] Antonio Botelho and Thomazia de Jesus

2018-01-18 Thread Melissa
They were married they 26th of April, 1886 (see
#21):
http://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/SMG-PD-SAOJOSE-C-1880-1889/SMG-PD-SAOJOSE-C-1880-1889_item1/P196.html

He was 22 and she was 21, which should mean they were born ca. 1864 and
1865, respectively.

I'm looking for their birth records and coming up empty handed. I found
this Thomazia but the father's first name doesn't
match:

(#141). I haven't been able to find anything for Antonio. Any advice
appreciated.

2018-01-18 Thread Cheri Mello
They married in April. Maybe the couple hadn't had their birthdays yet, so
in 1886 they would be 23 and 22, making their birth years 1863 and 1864.
Look at those years. Cheri

[AZORES-Genealogy] Ancestry

2018-01-18 Thread Pam Santos
I took down my trees on ancestry because it was private yet now when you
search they have all your information in the index no sense of it being
private. Some of you had access so If wondering why i removed them.

Any other place i can upload my trees and be private so others can still
view ?

My guess is private means just that. If you had a private tree somewhere,
it's private. I couldn't view it.

If you ask me, all the cloud-based sites have some problems (My Heritage,
Geni, Family Search). Cheri
