How would someone like me be able to find specific information in the volumes
of Portuguese text that comprises these records? Seems impossible for me.

Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] Medeiros from mainland to Madeira to Sao Miguel

2018-08-29 Thread Cheri Mello
Pete J,

There's a how to "read" the records on the Azores GenWeb here. It also
tells you what to expect from the 3 times periods for the different records
(with line by line translations): https://goo.gl/4Tzc2i

Or hire a research if you don't want to do it yourself:
https://goo.gl/nDfVUx

Most people who do it themselves are non-native speakers and we learned how
to "read" the records.

Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] Medeiros from mainland to Madeira to Sao Miguel

2018-08-29 Thread Margaret Vicente
Pete, it's not that bad...just google the name of the freguesia and island
and it will give you the church. You can post the list so we may identify
the church [s] or you can look up the below links.

Here's Sao Miguel Island in EN scroll to the bottom and select the
respective freguesia.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S%C3%A3o_Miguel_Island

Here's the link to all the freguesias for the islands of the Azores. It is
in Portuguese but it's easy read or use goodl translator. Many freguesias
bear the name of their main church.
