[AZORES-Genealogy] Help with baptism of Maria, Manadas Sao Jorge, 1854

 Maria was born to a single mother and a widow.  I would like to know the 
words after the father's name that I assume is his admitting to being the 
father.  Starts on line 4 with "viuvo…" and ends next line I believe 
with"...sua filha ??, fregueses…"

death but; I can’t make out what it is about.  It does, I think, list his full 
name, Jose ?? Paiva.  Any clue what the full name is or what the side note is 
about?

Maria, bottom right.  Is that Maria Resgate  (Maria Rescue).  I did look on the 
next page in the body and that is what I see.  Parents and grandparents names 
don’t give a clue where the Resgate comes from.

Sam,

The only place besides Lisbon that I've seen a place referenced as Nossa
Senhora do Resgate is in Lagoa, in this CCA link:

Maria, bottom right.  Is that Maria Resgate  (Maria Rescue).  I did look on the 
next page in the body and that is what I see.  Parents and grandparents names 
don’t give a clue where the Resgate comes from.

Hi everyone;  Just thought I’d mention, especially for those starting out, that 
I have been doing extractions on Santa Maria Island and I now realize how often 
surnames of individuals were switched back and forth on records.  For example 
the surnames:  Monteiro and Tavares.  I have seen the same man as Antonio 
Tavares Monteiro and as Antonio Monteiro Tavares on several different records 
of his children’s birth.  I know it is the same man because his wife, paternal 
grandparents and maternal grandparents all match.  How easy it is to overlook a 
match because of this.  I am finding that doing extractions of the entire time 
period is very helpful in finding extended families.  This project will take me 
a long time and I’ll probably keep asking everyone for help reading some of the 
information, especially side notes which sometimes can help you add to the 
line.  Once I am done, I hope to be able to help others looking in the same 
freguesia and time periods.

Thanks Cheri for noticing the update. I was coming here to also say 
something. ;)

Leonor is completely right. The indexer has been noticing those 27 new 
books since February 9. The book from Pico is not really a new book, but 
since it has a new URL, it is announced as a new book. Previously that 
marriage book indicated a range from 1877 to 1899, and not it only goes to 
1889. The archive does have the books between 1890 and 1899, and I expect 
that they'll be added at some point.

The problem is that the tombo.pt server is currently unable to handle the 
indexer, so the CCA books indexer has been broken for some time.. I had to 
do a manual run yesterday. That's why the announcement was on a Sunday and 
not on a Friday (the day of the week I run the CCA indexer).
