[AZORES-Genealogy] Can Maria Jeronima and Maria Santa be one and the same?
I am absolutely stumped by the name variations. Did women sometimes use different names? Can someone help me sort this out? -Donna Could Maria Jeronima in this Marriage record (Casamentos 1798-1826.44) also be Maria Santa in the Sao Jorge (Dispensation Transcripts, 1808, p.45 ) Maria Jeronima Rosais, Casamentos 1798-1826.44 In the morning on 17 Sep 1809, in Rosais, Manuel Silveira de Quadros, son of Joao Teixeira de Quadros and Marianna do Rosario, married to Maria Jeronima, daughter of Joao de Sousa Machado and his wife Susana Marie, deceased, all native of Rosais. They were dispensed in 4th degree of consanguinity. Also be Maria Santa in these records from Sao Jorge Marriage Dispensations. Maria, daughter of João de Sousa Machado and his wife Susana Maria, both from Rosais, was born on 19 April 1789 and was baptized on the 23rd, in Rosais. The groom in this chart is Manuel Silveira, son of Maria do Rosario and Joao Teixeira Correia. The couple requires investigation of 4 th degree of consanguinity . Maria Cavalho Valentim (?) Left the Azores early early 1900's. She was pre-teen, maybe as young as 9. Came with mother and siblings. More to Fall River, Massachusetts, USA area. Donna O, They could be the same person. They could be sisters too. You only have a date of 17 Sep 1809. The other paragraph has no dates, so it can't really be determined.
