Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] New Question re: Searching Passportes

2019-07-11 Thread jomig...@sbcglobal.net
Then that answer brings up a couple more questions. Is his wife counted on
the same line, or is she signed in with her own Passenger Number? I looked
through several pages and never found her name, nor did I see her name
mentioned on his line. I was able to make out all information up to
Occupation, Destination, etc. Next, what does the date April 1st
indicate? I had prior information that their ship Monarch's sailing date
was March 28, 1882.

Thank you so much for your help.

2019-07-11 Thread Cheri Mello
Headings on that passaporte for that time period:
DATE (year month day) - of registration
Name
Parents
Age
Status (married, single, widowed)
Native of (council & freguesia = kinda like a U.S. county and village)
Occupation
People that are accompanying
Pieces of luggage (I think)
Type of ship? It says Vapor
Name? Not sure of this
Next one is either the name of the navigation company or something
Destination: Sandwich (that's what they called the Hawaiian islands back
then)
Observations: No one has any

Here's an article on the Monarch from www.YourIslandRoutes.com by Melody
Lassalle. Since the Monarch arrived July 2 and was 57 days at sea, then it
had to leave May 6. http://www.yourislandroutes.com/ships/monarch.shtml

Ah, that helps a great deal. I look forward to getting the hang of this...one
day. Tell me, does anyone feel at risk being in the sites that say “not secure”?
Thanks again,
Josephine
