Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] Trouble reading this record

2016-10-27 Thread 'Marcio' via Azores Genealogy
Dispensation is by afinidade ( which is by marriage) being first degree means
that one of the engaged was married before to a sibling of the new spouse. In
this case, the bride was a widow of bernardino Jose de Moura, who was brother
of new husband Joaquim Jose de Moura.

You should never find first degree of consanguinidade cause that would mean a
pair of siblings getting married to each other. I have seen first degree and
second degree of consanguinidade which is an uncle/aunt marrying a nephew/niece.
With that said if you find just first degree it should be by afinidade and
never consanguinidade.

Hope I was able to clarify.

Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] BALTEZAR GOMEZ DE MOIRA 's marriage

2016-08-11 Thread 'Marcio' via Azores Genealogy
Baltazar Gomes de Moira and Bárbara Velho are not the same Baltazar Gomes de
Moira and Isabel de Fontes. Bota couples lived in St. Espírito. the Balthazar
married to Barbara had kids already in 1674 meanwhile Balthazar married to
Isabel started to have kids in 1689 I believe ( I would have to check my info
to be sure since I'm not home right now)

Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] Re: São Miguel island

2016-03-31 Thread 'Marcio' via Azores Genealogy
Thank you Julio! That is exactly what I have. Even the note to the ancestors of
Manuel Goncalves and Maria de Sousa. That info was sent to me by a genealogist
from S. Miguel who consulted those manuscripts. But I have my doubts if this is
true. For diferent reasons. One of them being that I never found in Maia a
birth of a Manuel, to a Francisco Goncalves and Margarida Cabral, by 1694 they
had baptized 3 children and none was a Manuel. My Manuel had a child in 1709,
even if Francisco and Margarida had a Manuel in 1695 would make him a parent at
15 years old, not impossible but very unlikely. Also the fact Francisco already
had a son Manuel from first marriage makes me even more doubtful.

Do you happen to have Manuel Simoes and Margarida Barbosa marriage?

Thank you

I'm looking for a couple, Manuel Goncalves and Maria de Sousa, married
somewhere in Sao Miguel island (they baptized a child in Santa Maria in 1709.
He is believed to be from Maia. She is from Santa Maria Island, more
specifically from Santo Espirito. Since Sao Miguel has a lot of parishes I was
wondering when you research if you could keep these people in mind. I have
looked in Maia and did not find them.

Thank you

Based on my experience I would say The combination de Sousa Borba is more
common in Calheta followed by Topo.
Since you researched Calheta I went to Topo records and found one Alexandre,
born in August 1882. He was son of Manuel Jose da Cunha, shoemaker and Rosa
Delfina, seamstress. Paternal grandson of Antonia de Sao Jose and maternal
grandson of Antonio de Sousa de Borba and Ana Delfina. The godfather was a
Alexandre de Sousa de Borba (most likely a maternal oncle/cousin)

 Hi,

I would like some help with this marriage between Jorge and Maria and have
 the following questions.

 1. Maria seems to have two males listed... a stepfather perhaps??

 2. Jorge is listed as Jr, however, his fathers name is Antonio Jose d'Avila.
 Can anyone explain?

 3. Does anyone have the bride or her family in their tree?

 4. I searched the CCA for a child in 1909-1911 and there were none baptised
for this couple. Any suggestions of where else to look or search?

I will be in the Azores on Thursday!

 Thank you!!

Marriage date is correct and in s. Pedro. Marriage was dissolved by death of
husband august 3 1942 (I can also read 31 of August 1942) in a. Pedro. She died
October 27 1968 in s. Pedro

 Sam,

Tough to read but it looks to me like Bernardina married Manoel on 5-17-1906
and then one of them died Aug. 3rd, 1942butI'm not sure and someone
else will have to clarify it for you.

 Best to you!
