2012-10-21 Thread Jorge Costa Pires Filho
Hi Adrian,

Yes, I'm in Rio de Janeiro, RJ, Brazil, Rua Almirante Cochrane, 12 CEP
20550-040.

I also don't have a baptism record of Manoel Borges Pires nor Maria José da
Silva ,but I do have a death record of both.

Maybe they weren't born in Madeira Island, and maybe they were born in the
Azores instead, but José Borges Pires said they came from Madeira Island.

In fact, he (Jose Borges Pires) didn't said that their parents were born in
Madeira Island ! If they really lived there before coming to Brazil, or if
they just boarded on a ship in Madeira Island to go to Brazil, or even if
José Borges Pires didn't know properly where they came from, that I don't
know

My father once told me that only Manoel Borges Pires (Filho) remained in
Portugal. He also said that he didn't knew for sure, if the rest of Manoel
sons had descendants (excluding Carmen Borges Pires and, obviously, José
Borges Pires. Those, I know certainly, had children). Besides, he told me
that the sons of Manoel, whom came to Brazil, lived in Santa Tereza (a
district here, from Rio de Janeiro).

Furthermore, I don't have contact with none of the descendents from the 6
sons of Manoel. Only with some of José Borges Pires descendants.

Thank you for responding me. Moreover, I'd like to know if you have some
info on the parents from Manoel Borges Pires or Maria José da Silva. I have
some non official information which tells me that the parents of Maria José
da Silva were called Vicente Constantino da Silva and Maria Julia da Silva,
though I'm not sure.

I look foward to receiving news from you,

Jorge

 Hi Jorge,

Thank you for taking e time to write me to let me know of our ancestral
 connection.
I just sat down to look at your msg and am happy to get this info.

My mother told me stories about having relatives in Brazil somewhere. She
mentioned that her mother (Maria Do Carmelo Borges Pires) used to write to
Raymunda and was invited to come live with them but Maria had declined for
whatever reason. In the meantime they stopped writing and lost touch. My
mother Maria Manuela Borges Pires Martins is now in her early 70's and is
doing well. Still remembers many things from way back when.
Where are you located? Are u in Rio? Are you in touch with other family
from the original descendants of the 6 children?

My family settled in Cambridge Ontario Canada. My grandmother Maria lived
with us for a long time before she passed away so I remember her well.

Do you have any baptismal records for Manuel Borges Pires or his wife
Maria Jose Da Silva? I cant seem to find them.
Also were they both born in Ilha da Madeira, Portugal? My mom doesn't
think that was correct...but doesn't know for sure.

I look forward to hearing from you.

 Adrian Martins.
