thank you so much JR. I am also trying to find out who Jacinto was married to first. All I know is that her name is Maria and that she died and he later went on to marry Escolastica. [AZORES-Genealogy] Re: Looking for any Fragoso descendants from Sao Miguel
I need help with the Fragoso last name and I was wondering if any of you have ever seen this before, where a last name just seems to appear out of nowhere. so, I have discovered something interesting. In all of the records that I have discovered so far on my father's side the last name is always d'Andrade. There are only 2 entries where Fragoso is referenced. 1. Manuel's baptismal certificate has his father's last name as d'Andrade (no mention of Fragoso) but on Maria Jose Cabral's (his wife) baptismal record, there is a margin notation that she married Manuel d'Andrade Fragoso (now they added Fragoso to his last name). 2. The other record which shows Fragoso is on a birth record of Maria who's father's name is Manuel D'Andrade Fragoso (not the same manuel as above but tracing the lineage he was brother of the Manuel above's father). Does that make sense? Anyhow, this is a bit of a mystery. How and why did the Fragoso name just appear? Here is the record for Manuel D'Andrade http://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/SMG-RG-RABODEPEIXE-B-1895-1899/SMG-RG-RABODEPEIXE-B-1895-1899_item1/P239.html Here is the record for Maria Jose (margin notation where Fragoso is now added the Manuel d'Andrade's last name) http://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/SMG-RG-RABODEPEIXE-B-1900-1905/SMG-RG-RABODEPEIXE-B-1900-1905_item1/P269.html Here is the record for Maria who's father is Manuel dAndrade Fragoso brother to Jacintho d'Andrade father of the Manuel above http://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/SMG-RG-RABODEPEIXE-B-1900-1905/SMG-RG-RABODEPEIXE-B-1900-1905_item1/P256.html On Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at 1:10:03 PM UTC-5, Linda McLellan wrote: > > Hello All, > > My name is Linda and my father immigrated from Rabo de Peixe, Azores to > Canada. Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] Looking for any Fragoso descendants from Sao Miguel
My paternal grandfather's name is Manuel d'Andrade Fragoso and he was born in Rabo de Peixe on Feb 23 1898 and died in Rabo de peixe on Sept 25 1969. His parent's names are Jacinto d'Andrade and Escolastica de Jesus. It is said that he married a woman in Lagoa (do not know her name) I am not sure if she died, or what happened, but he came back to Rabo de Peixe and married my grandmother. Her name is Maria Jose Cabral. They married when he was 28 years of age (which is really old to get married at that time). Now that I know of Fragoso's in Lagoa, this rumor seems like it might be true. On Thursday, January 21, 2016 at 11:50:09 PM UTC-5, danan...@comcast.net wrote: > > Linda, > > I would love to check...
