Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] Huge increase in price for searching U.S. Naturalization records

Cheri -

Back at the first Azores Conference that You and Rosemarie hosted, we were
at the LDS History Center. Patsy and I found my Grandfather's 1904
Naturalization Application and his 1905 Naturalization Certificates, along
with that of my Great Uncle Pinheiro.

Guess we were really lucky.

Sam -

My Heritage Uploads - yes you can upload a second time - if you change the
name of the upload.

What will happen, is that when the 2nd upload appears, it may make a note
to you that the two entries are the same. You have the opportunity then to
correct the uploads by deleting one of them. I'm still learning this site,
and how to do uploads correctly. Yes I've made some interesting mistakes,
which all can be corrected, and the site didn't crash.

Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] Genealogist for hire in the azores

2018-08-25 Thread Ms AVA
For many years, Pat Nostrome and I, have been working with João Ventura (
hero...@yahoo.com ) , and have recently sent sent him a list of inquires
for what is needed to figure out some DNA relationships here in the
states. Since João knows the history and customs of the Azores Islands, he
was able to unravel a mystery that we didn't know existed, our surname. We
were researching for Anselmo, not knowing that it was originally Vieira,
and had changed to distinguish the many Vieira families on the isle of Sao
Miguel. So when my Grandfather was born in 1871, our Vieira Family became
Vieira Anselmo. Shortly after arriving in CA, they stopped using the
Vieira surname. Pat Nostrome and I highly recommend João .

Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] Golden State Killer Caught with DNA

2018-04-27 Thread Ms AVA
This has been a 24 7 news story here in Auburn, and the communities are
happy he is now behind bars. The Capture using DNA and GEDMatch to locate
a living relative, who da thought -
GEDMatch is a PUBLIC sight, so NO DNA Company compromised the "privacy" of
their testers. I do wonder now, if any of the GEDMatch members will stay,
or pull their Kits, and if it will make others think twice before loading
their data. The Kits I manage will stay on, their owners would be doing
their Happy Dance to know that their DNA was being used to get the Bad Guys
off the streets. I do hope that for the sake of the match, that his or her
"privacy" be kept our of the news.

And Susan - my Father gave me his baseball bat to keep with me...

Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] Re: 2017 Azores Genealogy Conference

2017-09-02 Thread Ms AVA
After a few years of missing out on attending the Azores Conference, it was
so good to be able to reconnect with those who attended the first
conference, way back when. A note of laughter --- Cheri has worked with me
over the years, since the first few conferences. She hasn't seen me in a
few years, so when I went up to say "Hello" (with a much longer hair style)
she was totally clueless who I was. She read my name tag, and we both got
a chuckle.

Cheri and Rosemarie - Thank You both, again, for all you do, not just for
the conference, but guiding us through out the year.

See you all in 2019, if not sooner at another function.
