[AZORES-Genealogy] Re: Father's name of Maria de Avis married with Manoel Spinola

2017-03-02 Thread akatex
It looks like Joao Afonco de Giar to me. Look for their children's
baptisms and that should clarify it. Start a couple of month earlier and
then go forward for their births.

[AZORES-Genealogy] Conflicting Documents???

2015-05-10 Thread akatex

I need some help understanding these 2 documents.

#1 – Right page, Manoel, filho de Joze de Souza da Silva

http://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/GRA-SC-SAOMATEUS-B-1833-1841/GRA-SC-SAOMATEUS-B-1833-1841_item1/P85.html

In the baptism record, it basically says: Manoel, son of Jose de Souza da
Silva, native of the main parish of Saint Mathews, and his wife Roza
Joaquina native of the main parish of Our Lady of Guadalupe and both
parishioners of this main parish of the Apostle of Saint Mathews of the
village of Praia of the Island of Graciosa, inhabitants of Fenais, paternal
grandparents …..

#2 – Document No. 3 for Manoel de Souza da Silva and Roza Izabel da Cunha

http://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/GRA-SC-SAOMATEUS-C-1845-1876/GRA-SC-SAOMATEUS-C-1845-1876_item1/P185.html

In the marriage record it basically says: On the 20th of January … this
main parish church of Saint Mathews … legitimate son of Joze de Souza da
Silva, native of the parish of Guadalupe of this same council, and of Roza
Joaquina, native of this mine parish; and she is of the age …..

If I have translated and interpreted this correctly, aren’t the two in
contradiction of each other? Doesn’t #1 say that Roza Joaquins is the
native (born) in Guadalupe and #2 say that Joze de Souza da Silver was born
in Guadalupe? The same is true for the spouse where it switches that they
were born in the parish of Saint Mathews.

Please straighten me out if I am incorrect or missing something. Thanks
for your help in this matter.

[AZORES-Genealogy] Unknown Phrase

2015-04-27 Thread akatex
Can anyone help me with a phrase that I have not seen until looking at some
recent obitis in the same time frame. It gives the time and date and then
says: na caza innomerade de followed by either the name of the street
or the name of the Father of who died. I can't find innomerade in any
dictionary I have. Thanks in advance.

[AZORES-Genealogy] Re: Family Tree DNA Y-12 $39

2013-02-24 Thread akatex
All,

A 12 marker test is a great place to start. I paid for the 67 marker test
on my Y-DNA and didn't get even one match on the 12, so it was just a waste
of money at this point. Go with the 12 and see what you need from there.

 Cheri,

What more can you tell us about this low $39 fee being offered by Family
Tree DNA Y-12. Now I know it's only 12 marker but it's a start for some
who can afford this low charge and then later they update to 25, 37, etc.
I know I have a couple of people I would like to start testing with the 12.

 Thanks.
