Eighth Annual Genealogy Fair April 18 & 19, 2012 Branching Out:
Exploring Your Family Tree
WHAT:  National Archives eighth annual Genealogy Fair

This two-day program showcases the Federal records located at the
National Archives as resources for family history research.

The fair provides information and guidance for experienced genealogy
professionals and novices alike. The fair is free and open to the
public with no registration.
Sessions New, huge classroom tents!

Sessions include workshops on records relating to census, immigration,
land, naturalization, military, online resources, and more. See the
presenter's biographies.

Exhibitors Exhibitors include National Archives staff and guest
organizations who will demonstrate how to use Federal records and
other resources for genealogical research.

WHEN:  Wednesday and Thursday, April 18 & 19, 2012

Opening Ceremony, April 18, at 9 a.m., in the Welcome Tent
Sessions & Exhibits, April 18 and 19, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
HOW:  Presented in partnership with the Foundation for the National
Archives and with support from Lead Sponsor Ancestry.com.

WHERE:  National Archives Building, 700 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW,
Washington, DC

This year the sessions and exhibits are outside and in tents on the
grounds of the National Archives Building.

Food trucks onsite.

Researchers may continue to use the building as usual. Please see
Information for Researchers at the National Archives Building in
Washington, DC.
The closest Metro stop is the Archives/Navy Memorial stop on the
Yellow and Green lines. The National Archives is fully accessible. To
request an accommodation (e.g., sign language interpreter) please e-
mail reservations....@nara.gov or call 202-357-5000 at least two weeks
prior to our events.

Background: The National Archives holds the permanently valuable
records of the Federal government. These include records of interest
to genealogists, such as pension files, census, and Freedmen’s Bureau
