There was never a hard copy made. Thanks Jeremy. I'd be happy to support the author by purchasing a hard copy if they're still available. :) Linda On Monday, March 20, 2017 at 10:01:15 AM UTC-7, Jeremy G. I have a 80 page book about demographic statistics in Ribeira Seca. It has tables and charts with all of that. I will scan and copy it as soon as I can. Thanks! Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] Infant mortality rates 1700's - Azores
The infant mortality rate was high in all the islands (and was probably high in the whole world; in America most families lost more than one child. If you walk through an old New England cemetery where people often had family plots, you'll see many small markers in the form of lambs marking the graves of the babies that never made it) but the mortality rate for foundlings was scandalously high. Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] Infant mortality rates 1700's - Azores
Mortality rates were high in general in the western world at the time. Even in the wealthy. Thomas Jefferson, for example, and his wife had 6 children in 10 years. Only 2 survived more than 6 years.
