Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] Re: DNA Endogamy (intermarried) study

It's probably going to depend on the amount of cMs that they share.

Normally, 4th would be too distant (an average of 31 cMs). But if they are
sharing 150 cMs for example, they are probably 4th cousins a couple of
different ways, such as 4C1R, 5th C, 5C1R, 6C, etc. They need to be cousins
multiple ways over for it to be endogamous. Here is a husband and wife who
are endogamous:

This couple is not endogamous:

We are finding people with 1 parent (the other is deceased). The Jewish
researchers and the Hawaiian researchers have been asked, and I'm trying to
find some within our genealogy community. I know of a couple of Madeiran
researchers who are 1st cousins and married. I don't know that they are
more than just first cousins. And they never tested their kid(s). I have a
cousin who DNA tested and is married to her first cousin as well. She never
tested her husband nor tested any of their kids. I know she is cousins
multiple ways with her husband like in my top graphic. (If you are looking
for this tool in your genealogy program, it's probably called a
Relationship Calculator. It may not be available if you are using free
software. I don't believe it's available with the online trees of Ancestry
or My Heritage).

Just out of curiosity, what would be too distant of cousinship for this
study; 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc.
