Richard, some City Directories in the East also list the babies born within the 
recorded year. These listings are in the back of the book so if you are looking 
at CD’s from many New England states, check the back of the directory. 

I also had my husband’s grandfather’s listing say that the family had “removed” 
to New York City! It gave me the clue that I needed to exactly pin down the 
year they left Connecticut!

Some city directories made notations when a person died that had been 
previously been listed.

I was able to find my G-grandfathers death date by looking in the Fall River 
City directories. Once I had a date I found the Obit in the newspaper at the 
Fall River Library. They have the newspapers on microfilm. I was also able to 
go to the city hall for a copy of his death certificate.
