Yes,  I used Pimsleur to improve my Spanish skills and thought it was
terrific.   I was able to check out the CD's at my local library.
I've tried several different programs and thought it was the best.

I used Pimselur CD's for Brazilian Portuguese and liked the approach.  
I know others who swear by this method as well. I could listen to one  
or two lessons per day on my commute to work, which encouraged me to  
stick with it through the entire set of CDs.
