I went back to the trunk of the URL: http://www.bparah.azores.gov.pt/

I think it says that they are undergoing maintenance on April 21, 28-30 and
May 1st.

You forgot to post the web site.

Files like that would be done in PDF. Everyone can read a PDF (or get Adobe
Reader for free to open it), but not everyone has Microsoft's Excel
program. Also, a PDF file cannot be changed or edited for the most part.

If I remember correctly though, that marriage file was 2000, 3000, 4000
pages long! It was a huge file. I know I viewed it and was able to search
it. I'm a keyboard person, so I probably held the Ctrl key + the F (Control
Find - Command + F on a Mac) and typed in whatever name I wanted.  Probably
in modern Portuguese. So there would be no entries for Mello, since that is
the old spelling. I'd have to look under Melo.

I haven't looked at that file in a while though and I don't remember the
host site that had it. I thought I bookmarked it, but I guess not.

Just to let everyone know, I’ve upgraded the links for the various Freguesias 
on the Azores GenWeb to show the Tomba link for each one. 

So, you can go to the Maps page at 
http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~azrwgw/maps.html to access a link to the 
Passports (via Tomba) and to each island from there. I hope that makes it 
easier to navigate.
