I found an Annie Bettencourt b. 5/11/1895 in Acushnet her parents are Joseph and Maria from Western Islands (Azores). Also a Marie Bettencourt b. April 18, 1894 in Acushnet her parents are Joseph and Maria from Western Islands (Azores). Is this them? Can you please tell us when this family moved to California and where Joseph died...MA or CA? I don't see any trace of this family in Massachucetts birth or marriage records, censuses or city directories for Taunton from 1890 to 1900. The Joseph Bettencourt families found in all Massachucetts in 1900 all contain children other than those listed in your message. All of the American Portuguese Genealogical Society material that was in the Taunton library has been transferred to the U Mass Dartmouth. Sonia Pacheco who is on this list could tell you more about. The APGS is no longer active and disbanded a couple of years ago.
