Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] Portuguese Bakery in Hanford, CA

2011-09-14 Thread Gayle Machado
John,

When I came home, I looked in some of my cookbooks. Is your treat a cheese tart
? I found a couple of recipes for queijadas made with soft cheese.

If I know what it is, might be able to call the bakery and ask if they have the
tart ?

I don't know what a quezadada is so I can't answer. They had pastries and meats
at the bakery. I even bought some piri piri sauce.

Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] Portuguese Bakery in Hanford, CA

2011-09-14 Thread Gayle Machado
Helen,

Not growing up near a Portuguese community, there are some things that are
completely foreign to me. This is one of those . That's why I was asking if it
was a tart. The recipes I found said they were cheese tarts. If I know what it
is, might be able to find out before John's visit.

Gayle

P.S. My father didn't want his children to speak anything except English, which
only adds to my lack of knowledge of his culture.

Yes, a quejada (sp) is that cheese/custard-like tart. I'm pretty sure
